Significance: Techwood Homes, Store and Administration Building is a contributing building in the Techwood Homes Historic District, nominated to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The building is significant for its role within the first federally funded public housing project in this country. In addition to its engineering and construction techniques, its economic, social, and governing functions were central to the concept of a self-contained community that was one of the goals of the Techwood Homes public housing experiment.
