Significance: The Benjamin Holmes Farm Smokehouse, now severely dilapidated, is an example of a utilitarian agricultural outbuilding constructed during the late-19th or early-20th centuries. At some point during the mid-decades of the present century flooring was installed in the structure, and it never again functioned as a smokehouse. The building thus provides an example of adaptation to meet the changing needs of a farming operation.
