Significance: The Hart County Bridge is a steel pin-connected Camelback truss bridge, composed of three identical camelback trusses and four flat spans. While the camelback truss is not an unusual configuration, it was rarely employed in Georgia. Only ten examples are known in the state, and this is the only example in Hart County. The total length of the bridge is 681 feet, with each of the camelback trusses measuring 180 feet. The width of the bridge is 20 feet 3 inches. The bridge maintains its original architectural configuration and all functional components are intact with the exception of the deck, replaced in 1960. The bridge is at its original location, which appears to be a traditional crossing point on the Savannah River.
