- Powell Moore discusses his early childhood in Milledgeville. He recalls attending the Georgia Military College and the University of Georgia. Moore recalls his friendship with Tillie Fowler and Culver Kidd and subsequently discusses his Republican leanings. Moore discusses his relationship with Richard B. Russell and his recollection of Russell's 1952 presidential campaign. Moore comments on Senator Russell's work in securing the Lake Lanier dam and recalls serving as Russell's press secretary. He goes on to discuss the Russell family. Moore comments on Russell's relationship with Lyndon Johnson and how their friendship waned in later years. Moore discusses the Warren Commission and Russell's involvement in Civil Rights legislation. He also comments on Russell's relationship with Eugene Talmadge and discusses his later ill health and death. Moore discusses his job in the Justice Department under the Nixon Administration. He mentions the Watergate Scandal and discusses his position as director of press relations for the committee to reelect. Moore also discusses the "smoking gun tape" and the Stennis Compromise. Moore discusses his work with the foundation of the Marketing Corporation of America and supporting Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign. He also recalls working as the Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations under Reagan, as Fred Thompson's chief of staff in 1998, as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs under George W. Bush and as a representative at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Powell A. Moore was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, on January 5, 1938. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1959 with a degree in journalism. He then served in the U.S. Army and toured in Germany, and was present during the construction of the Berlin Wall. He returned to Georgia and worked for the Southern Natural Gas Company. He began his career in politics in 1966, when Senator Richard B. Russell appointed him as his press secretary. After Russell's death, Moore went to work in the Justice Department as deputy director of Public Information under President Nixon. He then developed a foundation client and consulting business called the Marketing Corporation of America. In 1981, he was appointed to serve President Ronald Reagan as deputy assistant to the president for Legislative Affairs. In 1982, he was appointed assistant secretary of state for Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs. In 1998, he became chief of staff for Senator Fred Thompson in Tennessee. Moore was later sworn in as assistant secretary of defense for Legislative Affairs under President Bush in 2001. In 2006, he was appointed representative of the U.S. Secretary of Defense to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and in this capacity was stationed in Vienna, Austria. He remained in this post until 2009. In 2010 he joined Venable LLP in Washington, D.C.
