- The Southern Nursing Collection is composed of several different collections, mainly the South Carolina Nurses Association and the Grady School of Nursing. Content from these collections are actively being digitized and will be added to this digital collection periodically.
The South Carolina Nurses Association (SCNA): Founded in 1907, SCNA is a professional organization devoted to promoting high standards for nurses, to encouraging their advancement and welfare, and to improving health care generally. The content is mainly composed of various newsletters from the SCNA.
Grady Hospital School for Nurses Collection: Founded in March 1898, the school prepared young women from around the region for a career in nursing. It merged with the Municipal Training School for Colored Nurses (opened in 1917) in 1964 and was renamed to the Grady School of Nursing. The collection contains yearbooks and photographs.
Grady School of Nursing Oral History Project: Oral histories document the history of the Grady School of Nursing. Notable oral history interviewee includes Bernice Dixon. The collection will continue to grow with the addition of oral history interviews. - Metadata URL:
