- Description:
- Newspaper assignment sheet attached to print verso identifies photographer (David Tulis): "For story on Atlanta Preservation Center's new seasons of walking tours, need a shot of Piedmont Park Conservancy director Gail Timmis telling a new guide about World War I Peace Monument, a highlight of the new Piedmont Park tour. Gail Timmis (R) and tour leader Danny Thomas talk about aspects of the unique tour available on Saturdays at 11am and Sundays at 2pm. There are many monuments and curious areas of Piedmont Park that the average visitor probably never notices, including: the Hoo Hoo trees, the Pioneer Women's Monument, and the large Peace Monument (shown here) welcoming people to the park near 14th Street." The Allen G. Newman's (sculptor) Peace Monument was erected by the Old Guard of the Gate City Guard in 1911.
