- Newspaper caption attached to print verso: "The Presbyterian Poplar At Washington, Ga. This is believed to be the largest tulip tree in America, and under its boughs in 1790, the Rev. John Springer was ordained, the first Presbyterian ordination services held in Georgia. Dr. J.G. Wright, who lives at the Alexander place where the tree stands, is shown beside it."
