Next July 4th, the Americas' Sail competition will kick off in Savannah, with dozens of tall ships leaving port for Long Island. At a ceremony celebrating the competition coming to Savannah, city officials come to welcome Americas' Sail. Speakers at the ceremony include Savannah Area Convention of Interest Bureau Chairman Dave Sanderson, President of Americas' Sail Rev. William F. Wendler, Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., and U.S. Coast Guard Commander Craig Bone. Segment two: Grants for blocks celebration, 4:58-25:42. Civic Magazine covers a celebration marking the fifth anniversary of Savannah's Grants for Blocks Program. Speakers at the ceremony include Director of Neighborhoods Taffanye Young, Mistress of Ceremonies Frances Dunham, Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., Alderman Pete Liakakis, Assistant City Manager Henry Moore, community service award winner Ellen Washington, City Manager Michael Brown, and Master of Ceremonies Kenneth Dunham. Savannah's Neighborhood Coordinators are called up to be honored at the celebration. Following the ceremony, an interview is conducted with Assistant City Manager Henry Moore who talks about the benefits of the Grants for Blocks Program and how fulfilling it is to see people coming together to improve their neighborhoods. Segment three: CHSA dedication, 25:42-34:30. Civic Magazine covers the dedication ceremony for properties on Macon Street that were renovated using low-interest loans from the Community Housing Services Agency (CHSA). Speakers at the dedication include Mary Osborn from the CHSA Board of Directors, Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., Assistant City Manager Henry Moore, CHSA Chairman Jane Moore, and new property owners Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thompson.
