The festivities include dancing, singing, eating, and more, with a country Western theme for that year. In an interview, Golden Age Center Director Kay Stanford talks about planning the event and all of the work that goes into it. Interviewee Alfreda Thomas, a Golden Age Center manager, talks about the choice for a Western theme. Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., was in attendance and read a proclamation declaring May as older Americans month. Segment two: Apartment dedication ceremony, 5:04-13:17. Civic Magazine covers a dedication ceremony for a new apartment project on Abercorn Street that will provide housing for eighteen families. Speakers at the ceremony include CHSA Board Chairperson Salita Hill, Neighborhood President Virginia Mobley, Alderman at Large Pete Liakakis, Emma H. Newsome from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Assistant City Manager Israel Small. Segment three: New abstinence campaign, 13:17-20:34. Trying to curtail the highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation, the Georgia Department of Human Resources teams up with the city of Savannah to help educate local teenagers on the ramifications of sexual activity. The campaign, called "You are Worth the Wait," promotes abstinence until marriage. At a press conference announcing the campaign, speakers include Alma Turner, director of Adolescent Health and Youth Development in Savannah, and Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr. A PSA video is shown as part of the campaign featuring teenagers rapping about abstinence.
