ADOIFO BENAVIDES Quadrangle Dedication
Friendly, intelligent, caring all words often used to describe the
1990-1991 dedicatee. The staff of the Quadrangle are proud to dedicate
the yearbook to Dr. Adolfo Benavides.
Dr. Benavides is a native of Bogota Columbia. He received his "BA"
degree "Cum Laude" from the University of Puerto Rico and his
masters and doctoral degrees in economics from Washington State
University in Pullman Washington. Dr. Benavides joined the LaGrange
College faculty in the fall of 1986. He is married to the former Gloria
Gallego and they have one son, Daniel.
Dr. Benavides served as graduate teacher at Washington State and
taught as a visiting instructor at Emporia State University in Kansas,
as an international teacher in Columbia, South America, and in Puerto
Rico. He has served at the University of Idaho.
Dr. Benavides is a member of the American Economics Association,
and the Eastern Economics Association. He also has extensive re-
search experience in energy economics and international trade.
Besides being recognized by his students for excellence in his field,
Dr. Benavides was acknowledged by the Sears and Roebuck Foun-
dation as the 1991 recipient of the Teaching Excellence and Campus
Leadership Award.
Dr. Adolfo Benavides is admired and respected by all who know
him and it is with great pride that we dedicate this publication in
his honor.

STUDENTS GET INVOLVED AT LC
Students at LaGrange College are getting involved in Leadership on
Campus, and are helping solve problems in society today. Examples of
activities that students participated in to improve our world for a better
tomorrow are: Recycling Day, Clothing Drives, United Way Food-a-thon,
Involvement '91, Blood Drives, and many more. Students are starting to
take more leadership roles including: Student Government, VIPs, Student
Recruitment Team, Leadership Programs, Sports, Clubs, International
Day and honor societies. It is obvious that students are making the most
out of their college days.
The Student Development Office's Emerging Leaders Program fea-
tured an out of class experience that was facilitated by Professor
Judy Hammerton, and Dean Nancy Alford (not pictured). Partici-
pants included: Front Row Becky Brown, Jamie Kilburn, Laurie
Keith, Stuart Hayes, Ginny Childs, and Toshi Hiro Ueno. Middle row
Corry Broxterman, Barry Shildneck, Chris Herring, Emmy
Powell, Tim Thomaston, Scott Hellman. Back row Porter Smith,

EDITORS PAGE
Dear Friends, acquaintances, etc.,
HERE IT IS! This is what I sulked about, stressed out about, bitched about, and basically worked my *** off for. My friends will |
happy to never have to hear me talk about the yearbook ever again. I hope you like it; if not, oh well, I did the best I could w
what I had. I appreciate everyone that gave pictures and comments, I hope I did you justice. I think the only problems I have h
about doing the yearbook would be the disrespect and uncooperation of some students. Some people would look at me when I tr
to take their picture as if I was crazy. Then there were the people that would say they would get you pictures, but would not foil )
through. It's up to you to get your picture or your organization's picture in the yearbook. Any way, on a lighter side, 1 would like
thank the people that smiled for the camera, submitted pictures, took pictures, or simply said "take my picture." You were the on
that answered my repeating question of "Why am I doing this?" I can honestly say, I'm very happy it's finished. I hope all my h;j
work pays off. And yes, it is hard work contrary to some opinions. I heard someone say "The yearbook is easy, it only takes a f !
hours," I once thought the same thing. I would like that person to know that it approximately takes two people (Ted and I) tojj
two pages l-l Vi hours, which means it takes 88V2 hours to do a yearbook, a little longer than a single afternoon. Why did I let ?j
know all this, maybe because it made me feel better; well no, I think because next year and the years forthcoming, the students 1
LaGrange College will know all the hard work it takes to do a yearbook. It's hard to put something together that almost a thousa i
people are supposed to like.
To the art students that will be doing the yearbook next year, I wish you good luck if you needed it, but you probably will do 1^
best yearbook that this school has seen in a long time. To the students, let someone on the staff know what you didn't like so th<
can correct it. Before I end this speech, I would like to say so long LC, these were the best four years of my life. 1 will miss yom
Sincerely,
Wendy Winter

P.S. I would like to leave with some notes to people that are special to me at LC. I hope you don't frown upon this.
Dr. Duttera: Without your inspiration to help me pass those tests, I would never have graduated. For that I am grateful!
Ted: Can you believe it, we pulled this thing off without killing one another?
Mrs. Dyar.- My life saver!
New S.G.A. Officers: Good luck, respect one another, and get along. Key assets!
Old S.G.A. Officers: Glad I got to work with ya'll. We got a lot of work done and had fun too. Ya'll are great friends.
Pi Kappa Phi: I still think you guys are the best fraternity, (Sorry Click Delta Tau Delta Big Bro.) Stay Strong!
Kappa Deltas: I love you! You're in my heart forever. Thanks for the years and memories of good old LC!
A Special Thanks to Penny Kojak who has helped with the Yearbook over the past two years by processinj
