Robin Rhodes was named a 1984
NAIA Second-Team All-Ameri-
During this past summer, Dr.
Sandarg sponsored a guided tour
to Paris and Spain, which was a
total success. Everyone had a great
time (dodging highjackers and
bombs). It was a very educational
experience that no one will forget.
Seeing the Monalisa and the Venus
de Milo in books can never equal
seeing these masterpieces in per-
son. During the four-day stay in
Paris, nothing was left undone. The
Eiffel Tower was conquered, and
visits to the Louvre, Notre Dame,
and Versailles, and a night boat
ride down the river Seine kept ev-
eryone busy. After ransacking Par-
is, the tour moved down through
Spain stopping at Madrid, Cordo-
ba, Granada, Sevilla and, finally,
the beach of Torremolinos on the
Mediterrean Sea. The language bar-
rier was not a problem since Dr.
Sandarg speaks fluent French,
Spanish, and sign language and
most of the natives speak passable
English. The two-week trip makes
you appreciate the french and
Spanish cultures moreover, it
makes you appreciate all of the
conveniences and freedoms you
have waiting for you in the United
States of America.

Augusta, Georgia
183
The 1984-85 academic year was truly an eventful one, particularly in
politics, sports, world news, fashion, and entertainment.
Reagan's smashing victory over Mondale-Ferraro highlighted the
political scene as Geraldine Ferraro's bid to become the nation's first
woman Vice-President failed.
In sports, Bernard Langer became the first German (and only the
third foreigner) to win the Masters. Tennis great John McEnroe
thrilled Augusta spectators when he visited the Garden City to
participate in an exhibition match with Vitas Gerualitis. Brigham
Young was the NCAA football champion, while the basketball
crown went to Villanova. Florida ended years of frustration against
Georgia, beating them soundly, then going on to capture their first
SEC title ever (revoked later because of recruting violations).
In the news the big story was terrorism, highjackings, and hostages,
as the West was forced repeatedly to confront Shiite demands. Of
the forty hostages, thirty-nine were returned safely. *
In fashion, the male earring fad appeared sporadically on the
A.C. campus, and occasionally a "Punk" or "New Wave" hair-
do (Partially shaved heads and/or dyed hair) would emerge.
In the spring, knee-length, floral-design shorts were popu-
lar.
In music, Prince dominated the Grammys, but the big-
gest record of the year was probably "We are the
World" by U.S.A. for Africa, a conglomerate of
American musicians raising money to combat star-
vation in Ethiopia. In movies, Sally Field won her
second Oscar, and in television, it was the Bill
Cosby Show that headed the ratings throughout
most of the season. The "Dynasty" Cult con-
tinued to grow, and in the season's finale,
reflected the world's political scene by pre-
senting a terrorist-staged massacre at a
wedding.
A BASIC FACT . . .
skill = no future."

Editor's Note-.
Mere is your yearbook enjoy!
My staff and J thank jjohn May
for writing copy for the
Elizabethan "3ayre" and closing
section, and Vicky Spratlin for
contributing many photographs (in
the absence of Valerie of
course). Jn addition, J thank my
staff for their dedication and
camaraderie.
J feel that a tradition has begun
at Augusta College a tradition
of student, not faculty,
publications. As an alumnus, J
hope to see this continue.
However, this will only be
possible if you the students
support both W//Ue &/umtts
and the "Ml Kinger".
Sincerely,
