- Description:
- In this interview, Pete Inglis recalls his time in the U.S. Air Force. He participated in the Army's Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP). He describes his training and medical school and states that he joined the Air Force because he had always liked planes and travel. He did not receive boot camp training, but attended flight surgeon school. He served as a general medical officer doing dispensary work for officers, enlisted men and dependents. He was required to log eight hours of flight time per month. He relates a story of going on maneuvers where three planes were lost due to weather. He describes having to identify a friend from the crash site. Years later as an emergency room doctor, he stitched the head of a man who was the brother of the friend he had lost. He describes his medical career and retirement.
Pete Inglis was a flight surgeon with the USAF in post-war Japan. - Metadata URL:
