- This recording opens with singer Johnny Cash's rendition of "Southwind" and an introduction of the program by Boyd Lewis. The first segment, which begins at 1:14, is a feature about the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and its extension by Congress in 1982. The program contains audio excerpts from Atlanta City Councilman John Lewis; Laughlin McDonald of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU); Ray Brown of the Southern Regional Council; Earl Shinholster of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young.
