View of Dr. John R. Hopkins Residence in Atlanta, Georgia
The residence at the corner of Peachtree and Baker Streets in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, was built in the 1880s by David H. Dougherty, the owner of a dry goods store in the city. Designed by architect W. L. Stoddard, the residence was known as the “house of a thousand candles.” In 1900, it became the headquarters of the Colonial Club and a year later the home of Dr. John R. Hopkins. The house was demolished in 1931. - Metadata URL:
