If this book, through its pictures and script, brings to you,
the readers, a glimpse of our school life; if it recalls to you,
seniors, pleasant memories of the yesteryear of comrades
and of happy hours passed at PIEDMONT COLLEGE then
we shall know that it has served its purpose well.

ADMINISTRATION

A new feeling of hope and confidence is one of
the great gifts of life discovered during college
years. New knowledge becomes the strength of
achieving, and the humility of searching deeper
and further for truth. New physical coordination and
added emotional maturity radiates a positiveness of
well founded hope and confidence in life. New faith
in the living God grows from accepting gladly the
joy of each day, and pressing forward without com-
t over the rough places of sorrow.

New poise has become ours through the many
choice opportunities of meeting new friends, living
among kindred spirits, and studying with Christian
professors. Our mutual goals for life on the Pied-
mont College campus are summarized for us by the
Gospel of Luke, "Jesus grew in wisdom, In
and in favor with God and man."

Societies play an important part in the life at Piedmont. The
J. S. Green Society, founded by the pioneers of the college,
has developed with the college and has helped deepen the
spirit of loyalty and devotion to the faculty and administration. It
has endeavored to create bonds between students and the
school, which will mean loyal attachment to the Green and

PRDTRDPIAN

The name, Protropian, is derived from a Greek word meaning,
"In the forefront." Every member is looking forward, striving
to make the organization a vital part of our college life. This
was the ideal of the charter members and so it remains today.
It lives in the heart of every Protropian.

Now with the past behind us with its victories and the future
before us with its opportunities, may no loyal "prot" rest upon
his glories but with the energy and vision of the utmost to
bring into realization, "A Greater Piedmont" and "A Greater
Protropian Society."

The Men's Glee Club consists of all young men who are interested in
singing for pleasure. It offers many enjoyable programs throughout the year.

The purpose of this organization is to create an appreciation of men's
singing for ourselves and the public, to promote better relations among the
men on the campus, and to bring to the students and public an interpretation
of music through the medium of men's voices.

THE MEN'S GLEE CLUB

50

The College Chorus, under the
direction of Mr. Robert Noble,
offers songs for vespers, chapel
and special programs. Stud-
ents may participate for enjoy-
ment or one-third course credit
each quarter.

ALL FOR YOU

^Tchnowledaemen t

The 1953 Yonahian is yours now. We, the members of the staff, have
tried to make it a worthy successor to those books that have preceded it. We
hope you will enjoy it.

The work of editing has been none to easy, but it would have been many
times harder in fact, impossiblehad it not been for the aid and co-operation
given us.

To the following people who have helped in the preparation of our book,
we wish to express our appreciation.

Mr. Long, of Bowen, Long and Young, Inc., and the members of Photo
Process Engraving Co. for their artistic designing and printing of the book.

Lee Sears of Hewett Studio, Atlanta, Ga., for his excellent photographic
work.

Dr. Fuller and Mr. Lemjakov for their kindness in supplying us with n
photographic help.

Our advertisers, who have shown in a most substantial way their confi-
dence in our undertaking.

Bill McClure for the many times we have used his

The faculty and students of Piedmont College for their help in support
the book.

Mr. Samuel Woodruff, our sponsor, for his supervision.
