- Lillian Smith tells a story about the camp's male trickster character she invented, Buss Eye. The Hershey Tree mentioned on the label was a special hollow tree at the Laurel Falls Camp in which counselors would conceal treats for the campers. This tree was on Chechero Road. Chechero is a nearby creek and local place name that originates from the name of a nearby, long-gone Cherokee town.
