- Description:
- Letter from A. P. Hamilton to Felie Woodrow concerning Hamilton’s pain and health (diagnosed with dropsical affliction by Dr. Anderson), meeting with the family of James King in Augusta (Ga.) and her plans to travel with the wife of James King [Elizabeth Frances Prince King] and children to Huntsville (Ala.), leaving the following Monday [September 19, 1864]. Hamilton would like Felie to inform James Woodrow that the Federal Officers have left Roswell and that James King is in Savannah. Hamilton discusses the destruction that citizens of Roswell have done to the [Presbyterian?] church and mentions Sherman’s advising to “our lady who left Atlanta not to stop in Macon [Griffin], as she would be subjected to moving again soon, as they would soon have that place, Macon, Milledgeville, and Augusta,” and sends affection to Woodrow’s children, Macon (Ga.), September 15, 1864. Also asks that Felie send along a letter contained within to her mother Charlotte Baker, expressing affection and requesting prayer.
