- Letters from James [Bones] to his brother-in-law James Woodrow concerning the health of Tommy, the possibility of having a position in the [CSA] provided he could obtain a surgeon’s certificate, and payment for publication, Augusta (Ga.), October 3, 1863; informing James that with sorrow he expects to leave for the [CSA] army of Tennessee after enjoying a ten-day furlough in Savannah with Marion [his wife] and Jessie [infant daughter], his family’s reaction to a telegram misinforming them that his brother John had been wounded, payments received from Mr. Brown and Henry Pratt, Augusta (Ga.), June 1, 1864; comments on the closing of printing offices and being unable to find Mr. Whitmer, assisting Major Jas. T. Stewart, describes the Confederate troops and military tactics of [CSA General Joseph E.] Johnston during Atlanta Campaign and the people of Atlanta scattering upon his arrival, seeing Henry Pratt and learning of Porter’s departure, Wagon Train Mercer's Brigade, near Atlanta (Ga.), July 14, 1864; discussing the circumstances under which Jeannie [Janet], Joseph, and their children have left for Chillicothe from Greensboro as Thomas [Woodrow] urged and paid for everyone to come and expresses sympathy concerning Felie’s health, Augusta (Ga.), July 21, 1865; concerning raising funds for printing a newspaper [presumably Southern Presbyterian], discusses letters from family in Chillicothe about reluctance to return to the South, the condition of [A. A.] Porter, and the re-opening of the seminary, Augusta (Ga.), September 14, 1865.
