- Description:
- Five letters from the Woodrow family, 1854-1857. A letter sent from Dresden, Germany in 1854, possibly written by W. L. Boggs, recounts his voyage to Bremen, and sightseeing in Bremen, Leipzig and Dresden, where he now resides. He shares what he has heard of German unification. A letter from Thomas Woodrow, to Joseph Wilson, husband of Jeanie Woodrow, reports on family matters, and Thomas writes that James is interested in Alice Walker, a woman from Athens, Georgia. James writes a note in the letter denying this. In a letter to James from his father, Thomas Woodrow, James is asked about religious groups in France, where James has recently visited. Included is a 1856 letter to Marion Woodrow from James, and a letter to Robert (probably James' brother, Robert Woodrow), written from Paris. James writes that he is studying in a chemistry lab, and talks of plans to study elsewhere in Europe, such as England or Glasgow, and discusses his present travels in France, Germany, Holland and Belgium.
