- Description:
- Franklin D. Roosevelt first met Georgia Tech President Marion L. Brittain during a visit to Warm Springs, Georgia. Roosevelt was several times a guest of Brittain’s at Tech football games. On November 29, 1935, President Roosevelt spoke to a crowd of roughly 50,000 people at Grant Field as part of the formal dedication of the Techwood Homes Project, the first low-income housing project in the United States. This woven textile portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt was probably created by Georgia Tech's School of Textile Engineering in commemoration of that event.
