- A 45-star American flag associated with the appearance of President Theodore Roosevelt on Georgia Tech's campus in 1905. A handwritten inscription on the flag (on the first white stripe below the field of stars) reads: "This flag was on the stand from which / President Roosevelt addressed the / students of the Georgia School of / Technology Oct. 20, 1905." Roosevelt spoke at Tech on the importance of technological education. "America can be the first nation only by the kind of training and effort which is developed and is symbolized in institutions of this kind... Every triumph of engineering skill credited to an American is credited to America...." Roosevelt declared.
