SPIRIT WEEK

Spirit Week allows students to show
their Warrior spirit in funny and inter-
esting ways. This year Warriors could
participate in Twin Day, Tacky Day,
60s and 70's Day, and Blue and
Black Day. From hair painting to the
clothing style, the Warrior pride really
shined through. The final event of
Spirit Week was the Homecoming
Pep Rally. The Cheerleaders spon-
sored a battle of the classes in which
representatives from each class com-
peted to see who had the most spirit.

SPRING FLING

Each year Southeast students look
forward to the last Friday before
Spring Break to our annual Spring
Fling. As usual there was a threat of
rain but the day quickly cleared up
and was beautiful. Clubs planned
many activities during the day to
keep students busy. The Science Club
sponsored a water balloon toss, Civi-
tan had its marriage booth, and
Frater Sodalis held its always popular
Slam Dunk/3-point/Free Throw Con-
test. The day was hectic but students
still found time just to relax and enjoy
the day with their friends.

FOOTBALL

Southeasts football season
got off to a great start with a
win against Dooly County but
soon became gloomy finish-

and 8 losses. Much of the dis-

injuries of key starting players
including the quarterback and
kicker. Warrior spirits stayed
high and the boys showed a

duties of a cheerleader. These

spirit in both the athletes and

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL

The Southeast Varsity Basketball
team had an overall decent season
this year, but ended in superb fashion
when the team advanced to the state
semifinal game. Going further than
any other Southeast team had
reached before them, giving high
hopes for next years squad. The team
was led by Coach Vincent Turner who
taught his players qualities that
would not only take them above oth-
ers on the court, but off the court as
well,

VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Lady Warriors Basketball team
started the year slowly but found
there was hope with an impressive
win against Central. This years team
was very young and eager to learn
showing promise for the future. New
Coach Yvette Martin taught the young
ladies positive thinking and to always
try their best through practicing ev-
eryday and working together.

The Lady Warriors strive to think positive and
work their hardest. It is evident by the pictures
that a great future is ahead for these young
girls.

JV BOYS BASKETBALL

The JV boys basketball sea-

future but this years team
was exceptionally good. The

with each game. Next years
Varsity team is bound to be
good, with the young talent
coming up.

JV GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Lady Warriors JV Bas-
ketball was a learning experi-
ence for both the girls and
coach. This year a new face
was on the court Coach
Griffin. Although Coach Griffin
has never coached basketball
at S.E. until this year, it is evi-
dent he will provide the girls
with a lot of positive thoughts
and lessons on the game of
basketball.

Southeast's girls basketball future looks
good with these outstanding players on

WRESTLING

This years Warriors Wrestling team
got off to a great start with many vic-
torys. Although the team was young,
they still did an outstanding job. Se-
nior David Mathews won 1ST place in
the Hawkinsville Tournament and
2ND place at West Laurens. New
coach, Bobby Gorden turned this
young team into a tough challenge.

SOCCER

The 1996 Southeast Soccer
Team was led by an impres-
sive group of Seniors: James
Bish, Calvin Seabrooks, Fer-
nando Dupree, and David
Mathews. Along with some
talented underclassmen, this
group of young men provided
a great challenge to their op- *
ponents. This was due largely
in part to the dedication of
the team who _ suffered
through many long and diffi-
cult practices.

throughout the season to de-
velop their existing skills into
awesome plays. The boys
proved to their opponents
that they were serious com-
petitors. All the hard work and
practice really paid off! Good
luck to the remaining team
members next year for an-
other successful season.

The 1996 season for the SE

learning experience for their
new coach: Mr. Dixon and the
first year players. The girls
quickly learned that tennis is
hard work! Through the diffi-
cult practices they grew to ap-
preciate the game and im-
proved their skills dramati-
cally. With the team com-
posed almost entirely of un-

derclassmen, the future of

girls tennis at Southeast
looks promising.

BASEBALL

The Southeast Warrior
baseball team ended the sea-
son, not with an impressive
record, but with impressive
character both on the field
and off. The team showed
both hard work and dedica-
tion. The team was led by
Coach Eddie Ashley and assis-
tant Coach Vincent Turner.

Reggie Adams led the team
with an impressive .536 bat-
ting average and 22 RBI's on
the year, followed closely by
senior Jeff Johnson and se-

The 1996 Junior Varsity
Baseball team carried on the
Southeast tradition of domi-
nating the region in baseball.
Although the team was small
in numbers, the boys showed
an enormous amount of en-
thusiasm and team work. The
hours of hard work really paid
off for the Warriors as they
went 4-5 in region play.

success. Sponsored by Mr.

the Sports Banquet honors
all kinds of athletes. From

for most, it was also sad as
we said goodbye to Coach
Hammond, Coach Griffin,
