44 Message Prom The Principal
Greetings:
It is with pleasure that I greet you again in the school annual and share in the
reminiscenses of your high school days.
As you embark on the journey of life, you will have to face many challenges--
challenges which will be more demanding than the ones made on high school grad-
uates of the year in which you began school, 1950,
We are living in the "jet age", a rapidly moving and changing time in the history
of the world, I charge you to mold your lives into the ideas expressed by Edward R,
Murrow, when he said, "The Truth must be our guide, but dreams must be our goal,"
Was it not Truth guiding the persons who were instrumental in making successful the
flight of one John Glenn around the surface of this planet? Was it not someone's
Dream that this feat could even be accomplished by man? It is my sincere hope that
you will be guided by the basic facts which you have learned in school and in church,
and that you will hold firm to your dreams and aspirations, for it is one's dreams which
"make the man,"
In the years to come, as you review the 1962 edition of "The Wildcat", the faculty
and I trust that you will have realized some of your dreams, and that your lives are
being guided by TRUTHS, some of which have been made more vivid in your yearbook,
Mam yf Monpon-

SENIOR CLASS SONG
(TUNE: ''NOW IS THE HOUR'' Juanita D, Lamar, 62
Dear App-ling High, It's time to say good-bye;
- Our hearts are sad to know that we must go,
Soon we'll be leav- ing for higher goals to strive,
But far a- head lies pro-gress onthe shore;
While we're a- way; O please re- mem-ber US
As we be- gin this jour-ney toward the end,
Grant us your bless-ings sweet and all your trust,
d - i - cate our lives and ser = vice to men,
SENIOR CLASS POEM
WE MUST BE LEAVING"
The Senior Class of "Sixty-two", We are leaving you much to our regret,
Is very sad in leaving you, It only seems like yesterday when we met,
Our stay with you was only a few years, Although we all must now depart,
Our departing will bring us many tears, For we must get another start,
We are graduating now, dear friends, Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors too,
Yet we have not reached the end, We challenge these precious words to you:
We have striven hard and done our share "May the key to success be ever to you
Although some of us didn't seem to care, As long as you continue through,"
--Betty J, Vinson, '62
