And By Night .. .
The pathways through high school are memo-
rable ones. We hope that through this book we
have portrayed a span of these pathways to the fu-
ture upon which each of us travels.
Education is in itself a wide and heavily trav-
eled pathway. There are many forks in this path-
way each leading to some goal set by those who
are traveling upon it.
Just as some roads are unpaved, so are some
pathways to success unpaved. There are many
rough and threatening sections. If the goal is
kept in view, however, all difficulties can be sur-
mounted; the pathway will have served its pur-
pose of furnishing a means of guidance.
We are proud of our faculty who are the
guideposts along our pathway through high
school. Without them, our trek would be futile.
With all these things in mind, the Shield staff
presents to you the 1967 SHIELD.

MR. GLENN BACON
DA vdication
The SHIELD staff and the class of
1967 proudly and affectionately dedi-
cate our yearbook, the SHIELD, to
you, Mr. Glenn Bacon
You have directed our chorus and
composed music for it for the last sev-
eral years, giving us many hours of
your time
You have inspired the students of
Dudley M. Hughes High School by
your fine musical ability and by your
devotion to duty. You have over-
looked our carelessness and forgetful-
ness and have gently chided us into
doing our best. By encouraging the
students to develop their talents in
and their tastes for music, you have
made their lives more enjoyable.
It is an honor to pay tribute to one
who has become such a genuine part
of Dudley M. Hughes High School
We shall not soon forget your influ-
ence on our lives.

going to work at WRAMA. We have about 80 students working on the
Dase
The General Work Program was designed to provide work-study experiences for our
students. About two hundred students, who work in a variety of occupations, are learning
early in life to face many of societys problems in the working world
General Work Program students are providing themselves with the necessities of life
while they are earning a high school diploma. Too, we are making early tax payers out of
them.

GREETINGS, GRADUATES
We are glad to be a part of your Annual. . . the book that you will treasure for many years to
come. We are already a part of your life . . . probably have been for most of it. You see, it would
be hard to find a home in America to which Bibb Textile Products have not contributed beauty,
comfort and utility in some measure. Bibb Yarn and Fabrics are woven into luxurious carpets, fash-
ionable draperies, beautiful upholstery material. You'll find Bibb also in the office, in industry, and
in the wardrobes of America. Bibb sheeting material stretches from the baby crib right on through
life. So we salute you . . . we are happy you are taking us into your future.
