SO
DIFFERENT...

Our paths lead in varied
directions. We each study a
course for many reasons.
Our lives reflect talents,
interests, likes, and dislikes.

YET SO ALIKE

Even though we're preppy,
musical, conformists, and
nonconformists, we are all
driven by a strong need to
live, to be a part of the flow,
a sense of belonging, and
sharing in the spirit of
support for Central.

SO
DIFFERENT...

Our school has a heritage that
is much a part of Macons
history. Each school has a
personality as reflected in its
leaders. Lanier A zings with
warmth in personality, and too
with memories of those hot,
hot days. Lanier B emerges
boldly and efficiently with
memories of the cool comfort
of the air conditioning.

YET SO ALIKE

Lanier A and Lanier B are
Central High School. Two
buildings merged to form
Central High School. One
school devoted and dedicated
to the cause of serving and
caring, motivating and
demanding that we aren't just
getting by, but that we reach
to achieve.

SO
DIFFERENT...

Our schools program parallels
with the demands and
complexities of society.
Students seek enjoyment in
learning a number of courses
just for the fun of it. Many find
it to be a way of fulfilling and
channeling their creative
forces. Some take courses in
preparation for college studies
in medicine, law, performing
arts, and for further vocational
training.

YET SO ALIKE

We all tend to strive for some
kind of success. There is a
need to dream, to seek, to
venture, and to dare to survive
the forces and challenges of
todays world.

SO
DIFFERENT...

Central males have set a
variety of expectations for
their girls some prefer girls
who are subtle, graceful, and
poised in mannerisms, their
girl should be independent and
intelligent. Central females
prefer the guy who has values
and goals; he should be
outgoing and neat. Many
females quickly confirmed that
looks are important, but being
sincere, fun loving, and
thoughtful are equally
important.

YET SO ALIKE

There is always that one
person who is special
because of those special
qualities. Each person knows
what he or she wants in a
friend. Both persons seek
social and mental harmony.
People like people because of
those moments shared at
school, in the park, at a movie,
or because of a simple smile.

SO
DIFFERENT...

Students have many different
ideas about eating. Some
prefer hamburgers, while
others would turn their noses
up at anything less than a
steak. Others may prefer to eat
out, while there are still the
homebodies who wish to cook
at home.

YET SO ALIKE

Whether its chicken,
hamburgers, or pizza, we all
tend to take advantage of the
many eating establishments.
Teens are seen in abundance
eating with family and friends.
A good meal is something we
all enjoy.

<S

vy ; , x WN y 77

SO
DIFFERENT...

Getting to school offers
pleasure, excitement, and
variety. For some, it can be
unusual. There are some who
prefer the uninhibited
experience of bike and
motorcycle riding. Some prefer
the luxury and sophistication
of driving. Some like
communing with nature
through their walks. Necessity
and convenience offers the city
bus, and if youre lucky, you
can take the school bus.

YET SO ALIKE

The manner in which one
arrives at his destination is our
idea of transportation Our
destination is school we
bring a number of
personalities with us, with one
journey education.

SO
DIFFERENT

Trends, lifestyles, social
backgrounds, the intellectual,
the talented, the ROTC, all
reflect a uniqueness and
distinction found at Central.
We are a colorful and live
group we Create, we cheer,
and we are sometimes noisy.
Each student is a separate
being offering color and
contrast through his or her
actions.

YET SO ALIKE

Differences at Central are
easily translated into a
oneness. There is that pride
and dignity which crowns our
endeavors. We achieve, we
struggle, we cry, we rejoice,
and above all we life together
as students of Central High
School.

It has been a year of new beginnings for Central High School's Pegasus.
The staff has been under the direction of Mr. James Caldwell, who has
worked tirelessly with the members of the staff. Taylor Publishing Com-
pany and its representative, Tamara Smith, have provided innovative ideas
to make the annual more exciting for the student body. But, as usual, the
successful production of the Pegasus was dependent upon the commit-
ment of the staff. This years staff realized their responsibilities and had a
great desire to produce a prize winning yearbook.

A

A
Parker

The purpose of the yearbook for this year was to
creatively present a truthful and exciting account of
the good and bad times at Central High. Our one
constant goal was to capture the ideas, traditions,
highlights, victories, and losses of the school. We
have worked hard to show through our theme the
total atmosphere of the school the cultural dif-
ferences, the people, and their lifestyles. Equal atten-
tion has been placed on that strong force of unity
that binds us together students of Central High
Striving to learn, achieve, and survive. My best wishes
to all of you.

Your Editor,
Pam Bledsoe

During the year, | often asked myself, Why did |
agree to advise the annual? The search for an
answer to that question often brought frustration and
sometimes regret. It seems that the year has beena
swift and moving one, and | find it difficult to believe
that | now pen the advisors note to the final pages of
our book. Moreover, the question of why answers
itself with the realization of the many intangibles
derived from having completed an almost
insurmountable task. My heart goes out to all the
teachers and students who have each in their way
made our production a success.

Foreign Relations is one of the most exciting and rewarding courses
that | have ever taken. It gave me knowledge and experiences that | will
always have and remember. By being in Foreign Relations, my class
and | were able to go to Washington, D.C., and attend the twentieth
North American Invitational Model United Nations. This in itself was an
experience of a lifetime. By participating in the Model United Nations,
we increased our understanding of national and foreign policies,
strengthened our oratorical and debate skills, and met new and in-
teresting people from all over the United States. We were also able to
tour the many sites and to attend cultural events of the city. An unex-
pected, but exciting experience was being in the big blizzard of 1983.
Many old friendships were strengthened and many new friendships
were formed during our year of Foreign Relations. I'll always remember
Foreign Relations and |m grateful that | had the opportunity to take this
course.

Friday, Jan. 27, 1984, the
Macon Council on World
Affairs held a Walter C.
Dowling Model United Na-

won four out of the six
awards given.

NAIMUN provides good stimulation of the conduct of international
relations. It also teaches them about diplomacy and foreign

policies of different nations.

On Feb. 14, 1984, the
foreign relations students

SPEAKING

When one speaks of success, the terms confident, capable, and
ambitious come to mind. Tim Ellis possesses these qualities. He is
determined to reach the goals he sets for himself, and he has indeed
been successful thus far in the completion of these goals. Here, he
has only begun his climb to the top.

Andrea Fambro is a diligent, dependable, and hardworking student
aperfectionist who usually achieves this perfection in every aspect
of her life, outside school as well as in the classroom. She is a bright
young lady with an even brighter future ahead of her.

Ray Scott is a musician with a flair for the diverse he not only plays
tenor saxophone for the Sugar Bear Band, he has been playing the
baritone saxophone as well, in addition to 3 years of piano. He is the
leader for his section, as well as co-captain of the band, a title he
shares with Tim Ellis. He has been chosen, along with Jennifer
Rowell, to tour Europe this summer with the U.S. Collegiate Wind
Band.

Jennifer Rowell is a very talented young musician with 11 years of
piano, as well as 4 years of clarinet under her belt. She is 1st chair in
the Sugar Bear Band for her clarinet section. She is very instrumen-
tal in the overall structure of the band and her talent shines through
more in each performance. Along with Ray Scott, she has been
chosen to tour Europe in the U.S. Collegiate Wind Band in the sum-
mer of '84.

Beauty is only skin deep, but Samantha Housers beauty goes far
beneath her skin. She possesses an inner glow and a sweet friendly
disposition which brings this beauty within to the surface.

Its not too often that one sees Debbie Gilland with anything but a
friendly smile on her face. She is a most congenial, considerate, and
generally amiable young lady. She is well liked by her peers, and a joy
to those she comes in contact with.

With a personality as bright and sparkling as his smile, Charles Cor-
bett is friendly, well mannered, and well liked by the general concen-
sus of his peers. He is truly deserving of his title Most Courteous
boy of the Senior Class.

OF SENIORS |

Kimberley Mays, a most athletic young lady, has powered the
Chargers to excellence with her outstanding performance in both
basketball and track. She is also a member of the drill team, and par-
ticipates in the ROTC program.

A devoted, hard working young athlete, Chris Raineys first love is,
and has always been, basketball. Through his desire to achieve ex-
cellence, he has averaged 26 points per game this season and has
been a major factor in our Chargers extremely successful season.

Among the handsome faces at Central, Jodon Slaughters is thought
to be especially so. A charming manner, a wonderfully stylish ward-
robe, and a sparkling smile are all pluses that add up to an all around
attractive young man.

Innovation is a key word in describing Ronnie Cherry's mode of
dress. He is ultra fashionable, and a very, very diverse in his choice of
clothing one day, donning the classic preppy button down, and
penny loafers, and the next day, a French coat, boots, and the punk
wardrobe staple of a red bandana. He is unmistakably a fashion
leader here at.Central.

One face that stands out in the crowd is that of Reginald Russell. An
active Student Council member, Reginald is highly supportive of a
great many school activities, as well as being a conscientious stu-
dent. He was also first runner up to Cedric Craig for the coveted Mr.
CHS award. A smile is a sure sign of ones spirit, and Reginald
always has one for everyone, as well as a cheerful greeting and a
humorous witticism to break the monotony of a long day. Reginald
Russell |S CENTRAL SPIRIT!

It is said that clothes make the man, and although Julie Peale is far
from being a man, her clothes certainly do have it made. She exhibits
extremely good taste in the garments she wears a tasteful mixture
of high fashion dress wear and sporty casual attire. She is always up
to date, and chooses accessories which become her wardrobe
beautifully.

A special salute to Centrals basketball team. This year our
team was ranked number two and compiled a 17-4 record.
