You, Miss Geraldine J. Ware, with your able assistance and
infinite understandinghave made it possible for senior students
at Ballard-Hudson Senior High School to cross a significant
point in their lives.
Because youhave proved yourself tobe an excellent teach-
er and a sincere friend, because we realize the value of your
worth to us andto our predecessors, we the Class of 1963 hum-
bly dedicate The Tiger to you.
As we bestow this honor, may we also pass along to you as
a reward for your hard work and sincere service, a wish for
good health, happiness, continued service to boys and girls to
follow, and an inner satisfaction of feeling and knowing that
you and your efforts for us are highly appreciated.
The Senior Class of 1963
__ Foreword
This book is not an attempt to wave the flag, to provide a
record for historians, to establish a citation for heroes, or to
incite applause from nations. It is rather a personal review to
emphasize the allegiance we owe to those who have captured
and held for us the American Heritage.
Our fundamental beliefs rest on justice and humanity, and
these beliefs are perpetuated to the degree that the patriotic
enlarge andenrich this heritage of citizenship, education, and
righteousness. The poignancy of a prosperous and democratic
future is ordained in the sincerity and trust with which we say
in these pages "This I Believe.

PRINCIPAL R. J. MARTIN
My highest commendations go to the Class of 1963 for
the publication of their yearbook, following the noble
theme, This I Believe. . ."
Our American Heritage is one of the most valuable of
our legacies ashuman beings. It is inspiring and hearten-
ing to know that our youth are so keenly aware that the
essence of this birthright lies in human dignity and free-
dom. I believe that the greatness of our nation and the
prosperity of the future willbe determined by young people
such as these who cling to faith and honor, who will strive
to live greatly, no matter where, as men and women ever
hopeful of victory.

Where liberty dwells, there is my country.
Benjamin Franklin
A fine professional photograph does two things for you . . . It represents you at
the instant it is taken, and it keeps that You alive for later generations to see. . .
You will grow older, of course, but our talented artist-photographer will keep
todays You forever young! . . . We are happy to be your official school photographer,
and we'd be proud to be your personal photographer, too, to record all
the other important events of your life
