Through the centuries educators have guided
students to higher realms of learning. It is by
their precepts and examples that we, the youth
of today, have prospered. Civilization has pro-
gressed to inconceivable heights because pre-
ceding generations have profited by knowledge
and experiences which they have inherited and
enriched and which they, in turn, have handed
down to coming generations. This lamp of ex-
perience represents a challenge to us, reminding

us of our obligations and responsibilities, not

only to our ancestors, but also to the youth of

tomorrow.

PRINCIPALS MESSAGES

A. L. MILLER SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
MACON, GEORGIA

To All Seniors:

Your work and study of the past three years has
brought you to your graduation which is a beginning
of a new experience in which you will apply the
knowledge, the attitudes and the aspirations which
you have acquired at Miller.

Let me congratulate you and wish for you the
best in all things. I shall rejoice with you in your
successes; and if reverses come, I know that you will
meet them bravely and climb on to higher things.

Sincerely,

Jet

till the fire is nothing but

EDGAR LEE MASTERS
Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores have
innumerable opportunities in later years of prac-
ticing the knowledge gained in high school.
Thus their ideas or fire become the deeds

or light which enriches their associates.

This lamp of knowledge represents the educa

tion that has been acquired and the hope that it

will be used to the best advantage.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
The candle, symbolic of truth and purity,

is used in all formal initiations which are re-

garded sacred to those who participate. These

ceremonies later result in many loyal friends and
happy memories. Wonderful experiences
shared together in sororities and fraternities will
always burn as the candle, with a small but
