The 2005 Cavalier Cross Country team
built a strong foundation upon which
to grow in the future, winning many
meets and improving at both region
and state meets! The junior varsity
team was comprised of two students
this year, but theyve promised to
recruit heavily for the 2006 season. The
varsity teams are developing depth,
with many of the boys running under
19 minutes and many of the girls
breaking a 7-minute-mile pace. Coach
Chad Barwick hopes to give FPD a
run for its money in a few seasons.

lt has always seemed strange to me that in our endless discussions about education so

Another school year has gone by. Poor graduates it was another part of a journey to
adulthood. Lor the other students from Oth grade to Ilth grade, it was one more step
in the journey to graduation. One of the biggest remembrances of 2ZOO5 - 2006
didnt happen in Macon but affected Macon. | lUrricane Katrina laid waste to much of
the Mississippi and louisiana coastline. We met and ministered to students from that
area. We took on fundraising for a sister Mercy school in Bay St. louis to help them
return to a normal life knowing that life had changed forever for them. At MDS
we are taught to treat others as we would want to be treated and to be motivated by
living a more responsible and God-centered life encompassing the values of our Catho-
lic heritage. Cur participation in these and other humanitarian efforts gave us the
opportunity to put these principles in practice and to enhance our education in service
to others.
