Every successful story begins
with a solid floor plan. Rutland
High School is no exception.
We knew that our plan was
dependable, safe, and firm. A
plan that would be able to
withstand the test of time.
The
Architects and drafters began to
draw and design our new
school. Diverse groups melted
into an eclectic original design,
forming Rutlands first student
body.
Beginning
A sketch of common ground
was hidden inside our souls. We
found a door of anticipation,
and a staircase of respect. This
doorway led us to a new story
of tolerance, and acceptance.
Rutland High School became
the blueprint in our hearts.
N
jy
Rutland staff and students
began to lay the foundations for
an excellent school. There was
no doubt that a stern foundation
would lead us to a prosperous
education.
Iitaxye
Hard work, determination, and
perseverance held us together.
Rutland rose to many challeng-
es because our foundation was
unyielding to lifes storms.
A
No one knew it would be this
overwhelming. Seniors, juniors,
sophomores, and freshmen all
paid close attention as we tried
to grasp what was expected of
us. Everyone had to learn his or
her way through the endless
maze called Rutland High
School. This foundation was
fresh, new, and unfamiliar.
However, we knew that some
day it would become our home
away from home.
Foundation
Rutlands foundation was the
dawn of a new frontier that
every person would have to
embark upon. Who knew the
impact that each brick that was
laid would have such an
enormous impact on the hearts
of so many?

Upon
History has a way of repeating
itself. The original Rutland High
School opened its doors on
September 15, 1912.
The
Rutland was a school of
excellence and integrity, which
was erected where Heard
Elementary is located now.
There, traditions were formed,
friendships were built, and
obstacles were overcome.
Land
Today the Rutland we know and
love continues to carry a banner
of integrity, high morals, and a
standard of excellence. Here on
Skipper Road, Rutland High
School perpetually meets
challenges, defeats ignorance,
and encourages an excellent
education. We come to this
school everyday, expecting
nothing less than the absolute
best. We are not often disappoint-
ed. On this land, the mighty
hurricane swirls. On August 7,
2003 the greatest Hurricane in all
of history began to brew. The
origin of a bright future, and a
solid history began right here in
this land.
Its raining, its
pouring!

We came here as Warriors,
Patriots, Vikings, Cavaliers, and
Trojans. Some of us were once
Knights, Seminoles, Chargers,
and even Eagles.
Whole
However, when we came togeth-
er as one, a mighty hurricane
was created. When a hurricane
touches land, it has the power to
destroy a whole city and
community. Rutland Hurricanes
use their power to destroy
disrespect, hatred, and stereo-
types.
New
When all these negative
concepts were eliminated, a
beautiful combination of people
was left to begin a bright life
and future. As we began to get
to know one another, we were
able to look at life from many
different angles. Rutland gave
everyone a chance to make the
best out of life. Our Genesis
created an environment in
which everyone is highly
esteemed, accepted, and valued.
Watch out world, the Rutland
Hurricanes Genesis has just
begun.

Diversity is what makes life interesting.
With so many different talents and
characteristics, RHS students have not only
learned to accept, but to appreciate the
unique qualities spread among the
students, faculty and staff. The time has
come when we must look beyond our high
school years and focus on our future
careers. We can do anything that we dream
possible, if we have the confidence to
complete it.
Mrs.Kathy Reese
The opportunity had risen,
an opportunity to become the
principal of the new Rutland
High School. This is an
opportunity to grow profes-
sionally and to expand my
horizons. I believe Rutlands
greatest strength would be the
dedicated teachers who have
high expectations and are
committed to providing the
best for every student.
Although it was hard opening
a new school, belief and strong
effort made us strive to begin
a new life. Having these
difficulties has revealed strong
character traits and
exceptional leadership skills
among our students and
teachers. Every day is another
opportunity to grow and
develop.
Your Principal,
Mrs.Reese
Miss Gerson and Mrs. Malone
After being encouraged by Mrs. Reese to
come to Rutland, I gladly accepted the
challenge of doing something new. [The
oreatest difficulties in opening this new
school was learning all the new people,
both staff and students, and the fire alarm!
Rutlands diversity among staff and
students is one of this schools greatest
strengths. I hope to see more school pride
and growth in Rutlands immediate
future.
After being transferred by the Board of
Education, I discovered that Rutlands
greatest strength is its extraordinary
faculty, staff, students, parents, and
community. I found no great difficulties in
opening a new school because I have
previously opened and closed the
Vocational Summer School Program. I see
more academics, vocational, and
extracurricular programs in the schools
immediate future.

When you look back on your experiences
in high school, you will always remember
your favorite place to hang out, your close
group of friends and that guy or girl you
always had a crush on. Academics are not
the only focus of high school. Personal
relationships and experiences help build
character and prepare you for your future.
These experiences and memories of high

As each day passes, new traditions
are made.RHS Hurricanes have to
work hard. Atheletes came from
many different schools and
backgrounds with many different
ideas that formed into one. All of
their hard work pays off as
the crowd roars when a Cane
scores a touchdown, a track runner
crosses the finish line, the wrestlers
win a county championship, a
softball or baseball player hits a
homerun and a basketball player
shoots a free throw.

Rutlands girls varsity softball team
started the year out with a bang anda
no loss 7-0 winning streak. Like the
football team, the softball team was a
mix of girls from six or seven public and
private schools. Unlike the football team
however, the core of the team was not
made up of a majority of last years
southeast members, only two of them
being from Southeast. The team
showed a lot of teamwork and many

few seconds flat its wheels tuck
gracefully under its body, and you're
boating, not driving. The Gibbs Aquada

The process that lets you talk to anyone almost anywhere on your
cellular phone begins with the division of an area like a city into
small cells, each with hundreds of assigned frequencies that let
millions of people use their cell phones simultaneously. Using
special codes, highly sophisticated transmitting systems can
identify phones, the phone's owner, the phones movement and
the service provider so that calls can be transferred from cell to
cell almost instantaneously.
