Time For A CHANGE 13

[' may not seem like It, but four years Is a long
time. We have spent a large amount of our young
lives here at CCHS learning about all that Is
around us. For some of us It went by too fast,
and for others, not fast enough. It Is true that
our high school days are ending but our lives
are really Just beginning. It's kind of weird to
think that we will be starting a whole new way of
life soon; actually, It's kind of scary. Many of us
have been together since 1991, way back In our
kindergarten days. Even If we go our separate
ways, off to new, bigger and better places, we
will never forget all the memories and faces.
Some of us have our future plans mapped out and
others do not. Todays dreams are tomorrow's
future so now Is our time to shine and soar with
the rest of the eagles. We now have a sense of
accomplishment and satifaction. Nobody knows
where the road may lead us, but we do know that
our high school years have alded us In starting
our Journey there. So now It Is time to leave high
school behind and start our own lives as young
adults because there Is no doubt that It Is time
for a change.

his class of 2ZOO4 has grown up a
lot during our year as juniors. We
are all a little older and a little
wiser. We got our class rings, had a
great time at our Tirst prom, took
our SATS, and, whether we were
ready or not, we took the dreaded
graduation test. Many of us took a
major step into our adult lives and
began applying to colleges. We are no
longer the underdogs; this unique
class has made it to the top. Our
final year as high schoolers is rap-
idly approaching and we are going to
make it count because its definitely
time for a change.

ll the hassles of this year were well
wortn it. We are prepared for our last
two years in high school. We are over

all the anxiety and shock and pretty
much know our way around this place.
We have two of the four years under
our belts now. No longer are we on the
bottom, but we're not excatly on the
top. We are half way through, right in

the middle, and well on our way. We are

open to all the opportunities and its

definetly time for a change.

Tie For A CHANGE

ur high school experience started off
differently than any other class here at

CCHS. We made history as we entered our

fisrt year of high school in the new Fresh-

man Academy. lt was an extreme change
from middle school. We now have more

treedom and even more responsibilities.

Once we got to know our way around,
found the new faces more familiar and
looked past the pranks and jokes of the
upper classmen, we realized that we had
made it to the next level. We have accom-
plished a lot this year and found ourselves
maturing faster. We are finished with our

Tirst year and are anxiously awaiting the

remaining three years of high school.

Star Student Jeremiah Dunn with the chosen
Star Teacher Jeff Ikner.

CRAWFORD County HicH SCHOOL

Ctar Ctudent
s Teacher

Jeremiah Dunn has been chosen as Crawford Countys STAR
(Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) student. Jeremiah, the
son of Patty Dunn of Roberta, in turn has chosen his science teacher,
Jeff Ikner, to share the honor. Jeremiah says that Mr. Ikner continu-
ally challenged him and increased his desire to learn. He wants to
become a pharmacist and plans to attend the University of Georgia,
Mercer University, or West Georgia College. Though he intends to
pursue pharmacy school, Dunn says he wont rule out the possibility
of teaching because of his admiration for his STAR teacher choice. ~
[ wouldnt mind considering teaching to a specific age group, Dunn
said. It would be,challenging to get across to everyone what I was
teaching. That is one reason Mr. Ikner was my Choice, because he
gave us historybehind the theory, making more sense out of the sub-
ject. Then, of course, adding the hands-on experiments to complete
his teaching process made scifice moredun..

Mr. Ikner was quick to.point OUthow the/students are not the
only ones learning T have learned moreas a teacher than I did as a
student, Ikner explained. The fact-that I have been chosen by
Jeremiah as a STAR teachfmakes-me feel more confident in what I
have taught and whether I am relating to the students and getting the
point across to them.

Throughtout the years, sports have given stu-
dents the chance to relieve their stress, become
part of a team, and to stay physically fit.

The sports program at CCHS allowed studentsto

throughtout the year and into the future.

P.S: Please stop whining

Families are created out of love
And live within the cup of love's large hands
No momentary pain can love remove
Or taint the trust of one who understands
We live at times at odds with those who love us,
Colliding in our anger like great waves,
Refusing to have anyone above us
Nor willing to give up what passion craves
But anger is a storm we know will pass,
And freedom is the nature of the will
We run like wild horses through the grass
Yet know we are constrained by hunger still
Sometimes, obsessed with losses and with gains,
We turn towards home and find that love
remains

On April 5, 1985 you came and filled our days with so much happiness and
laughter. You are very special and you mean the world to us. Its hard to
believe that our baby girl has grown up to become a smart, beautiful
young lady. Do not let your high school graduation be the end of your
successful endeavors. May you go on to be the best of everything. Always
carry yourself in a way that you can keep your head high. Words cannot
express how much love and pride we have in you. Keep your faith in God
and he will lead you in the right direction.
