As these Juniors are sitting in their Advanced
Biology class, some of them take time out to
smile and wave at the photographer.

Being in the doghouse offers many
exciting and moral rewards.

Seniors, Erica Smith and Lakeshia Sands explain all the
rules of the high school to this lonely freshman.

In pottery class, these girls are showing the boys how to
roll clay smoothly into a ball.

As a new year rolls around, many new faces, as well
as old ones, sppent at this four year old building. The
time has come for yet another group of wonderful seniors
to leave JCHS. But these are special, for they are the
first class to complete all four years at the new high
school.

By six a.m. many feet hit the floor in homes all over
Jones County. At 7:30, clothes are on and we are ready
to leave home. When the 8:40 bell rings we are in the
doghouse of excellence at JCHS.

Jones County faculty and students believe strongly in
excellence. We show our excellence through extracurric-
ular activities, as well as academics. For example, the
1994-95 Academic Team outscored the opposing team
by more than 200 points, while the varsity cheerleaders
received a plaque of leadership, a trophy of excellence
and other awards at summer camp.

Pride is a feeling instilled in the students of Jones
County. You can see it in our smile and in the sparkle
in our eyes. Pride and excellence are evident here in the
doghouse at Jones County High School.

Justin Maddox patiently waits while Leslie Mathews puts
on his bow tie.

As Lynn Hopson is talking on the telephone, Calvin Hill Naomi Barfield

poses for the camera.

desperately rush-
es through the
crowd in order to
make it to class
on time.

Band members
calmly wait to
perform their
show for the
football players
cookout.

As Sean Treadwell and Tavaras McCarthy are
sitting on the ground, a beautiful dog joins in on
the fun.

Jones County Greyhound fans proudly sit still for the
mighty greyhounds to race out onto the field.

At lunch, students discuss their plans for the weekend.

MIRROR REFLECTIONS

Each year, the faculty, administration, and staff mem-
bers honor Seniors in Mirror. These students are selected
on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and service to
Jones County High School. Their success, accomplish-
ments, and continued efforts create a positive reflection

on their community.

Coach Dixon taught me, not only in sports but also in life, that if you
want something bad enough you can get it. I just want to say thanks,
I love ya, and I'll miss you. Emmalee Bragg

| will always remember the bond that my group, NXS, made through
the years. Our friendship will withstand the sands of time. Nanika,
Sedrick, and new members Tamika and Alonzo, I won't forget you
guys. Xavier Davis

Freedom is a road seldom traveled by the multitude. Joey Greene

When I was nervous about entering JCHS, my tennis partner and
good friend, Randy King, told me he would Show me around. Through
the love and support of Mr. and Mrs. Buddy King, Randy continues
to Show me around. Chuck Harfield

The past four years here at JCHS have been the best years of my life.
I would like to thank all the teachers and administrators for helping
me. Good Luck Lady Hounds! Dixie Johnson

I remember in 1992 hanging around my older brother Chris and his
senior friends. I also remember going to Mrs. Middlebrooks, and Mrs.
M. Stewart for help in my math classes. And doing things and meeting
people while in FBLA. VaShon Mercer

Thanks be to band, drama, and trigonometry. To band for teaching
me friendship and tolerance; to drama for teaching me hard work and
fun; to trig for teaching me humility. Allison Moon

1 would like to thank God, my parents and teachers for supporting me
throughout my school years. And to all my friends: Never forget the
many good times that weve shared! Damon Redding

The things I will remember most about Jones County will be the
friendships I have gained. Without my friends I dont know where I
would be. I will miss them; but remember them always! Kate
Scoville

So many people have helped my during high school. To pick one person
would be too tough. I would have to say Mr. and Mrs. Smith have been
very special to me during high school. Kenny Sumner

One of the most valuable lessons Ive learned at JCHS came from
Mrs. Sanders. She not only taught me to relax about my grades, but
not to worry so much about perfecting the trivial aspects of my life.
Whitney Wells

First, I give thanks to my parents for all their support throughout
school. I would like to say Thank You to all the teachers and I'll miss
the JCHS life. But most of all I will miss all the good times I had with
all of my friends. Ill miss ya'll. Felicia Byron

Over the past years Coach DeLucco has always lifted my spirits and
made me laugh. On his good days and bad days he has always had a
nice thing to say to me, every time I see him. Thanks Coach you're
Awesome! Brooke Ellspermann

I would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Middlebrooks, who had
faith in me. Also a special thanks to Mrs. Smith, Mr. Smith, Coach
Brock and Coach Dixon. Valvin Hambrick

This school and all of its wonderful memories will not soon be forgotten.
In these halls I was encouraged to develop my sense of self-reliance
and self-worth. It is to the teachers and administrators that I accredit
most of my success. Thank you. Chad Howe

I have sincerely enjoyed these four years at JCHS. The atmosphere
is that of learning but at the same time you can hang with your friends.
You can get as much as you want from here. Timothy Marlowe

Thanks to the teachers who were able to withstand my torrent of
questions, and eager to challenge them with their own. Remember this,
never be satisfied with anything less than your very best. Kristin
Miller

When I first came to Jones County high School I was very nervous
because everyone was so much taller and older than I was. Paris
Patterson

My special memorics at Jones County High School are the moments
I have shared with my best friend Lanita Houston and the rest of my
buddies at lunch. I would like to thank all of my teachers and my
parents for their love and support. Nadia Ryder

My fondest memories are of the great times I had in drama. The
friends I made and the experiences I had will last forever. Ms. Sca-
mihorn has been a great inspiration in my life. Erin Stevenson

In the spring of my freshman year, I was cast as the Slapper, Flirt
Conroy, in The Dark at the Top of the Stairs. For the part, I curled
and teased my hair. Everyone assumed it was a wig. I had fun trying
to convince Mrs. Middlebrooks that it was my real hair! Dawn
Tomlinson

Being an underclassman at Jones County High is not an easy task for
most students. Putting up with Seniors and raising money for their class,
the underclassmen work hard to excel in all that they do.

The time is almost here for the Class
of 1996 to take their place as the TOP
DOGS. This year was filled with fun-
draisers to raise money for the Junior/
Senior Prom. From Bar-B-Q dinners to
the Seniors v. faculty Basketball game
this class has worked very hard. Soon
all the hard work will pay off and they
will rise to be SENIORS.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
Of A Junior

Being a Junior is exciting and
stressful. Stressful because of the
graduation test that I have to take
to graduate. Exciting because of
the events to come and all Ive
been through.

Knowing all that I have gone
through to get here makes it all
worth while. My freshmen and
sophomore years were anything
but boring. But now that they are
gone, Im a JUNIOR!

Its a little scary, knowing next
year I'll be a Senior though
exciting at the same time. I re-
member when someone told me
a long time ago to keep my grades
up because it will help me in the
long run. Im now beginning to
realize that the long run isnt so
long anymore. The graduation
test must be passed and the
grades have to be up to get into
college.

But through all the pressures
of Juniorhood, one thing still re-

mains: Im not a SENIOR yet!!!

At the beginning of the year things
seem to be a little different and also a
bit difficult. It seems as though the time
is forever and a day you have to wait,
but, after several weeks the journey only
seems that it will end days too soon.
When your journey has been completed,
you look back at a tedious but worth-
while trip. then we shall rise to be JUN-

A Day in the Life

Of A Sophomore

If I had to sum my feelings about
being a sophomore, it would have to
be, Im too old for a bicycle and too
young for a drivers license. You know,
its kind of like being stuck in the mid-
dle and trying to figure out whats re-
ally going on at this point in our lives.
Remember last year, when we were
freshmen? There were some anxieties
about the new world of high school.
We knew where we were, or at least
thought we did! Juniors are totally pre-
occupied with passing the exit exam
and becoming seniors. Seniors are
about to take bold new steps into the
world of colleges, vocational schools or
careers. Of course they know where
they are!

Perhaps our sophomore year is a time
to do some serious planning for the fu-
ture, a time to pull those grade point
averages up. Its a wonderful time in
that all of us can go to college it we
want, just by maintaining a B average.
Its a time to demonstrate that we are
responsible students to our families, our
schools, our communities and those un-
derclassmen who look to us as role
models. Its also a time to take that
moment of silence seriously, by giving
thanks looking for guidance, and doing
the right thing.

A Day in the Life

Of A Freshman !

"What does it feel like to be a freshman?"

Well, to answer this question, I have
two choices. First I could say that it
is all rosy being a freshman, "a nerd",
"the low stone on the todum pole, the
bottom of the barrel, or even dare to
say a geek!" But as you might have
guessed, that wouldn't be the truth.
Or Second, I could go through the
agonizing story of the three R's -
Reality, Responsibility, and Tardy
Hall.

First reality. Being a new student at
a familiar high school with older
brothers and sisters you used to know
and being a new student at a strange
school with new faces is nothing alike.
Now I know that a new school and
new faces has to be better. In high
school it seem that all of your older
friends ignore you and are kind of
hesitant to talk to you in the halls. (I
guess as you get older the mind is the
first thing to go.) As a freshman
reality is a person for the rules,
rudeness, and more rules for being in
high school.

Next Responsibility. Being
responsible isn't something that falls
from the sky on a rainy day. In my
opinion responsibility has no
definition meaning that you can'thear
it one time and say - "I AM
RESPONSIBLE". Being responsible
must be taught through experience.
Something that will happen often in
your high school years.

The last R is Tardy Hall. Tardy Hall
does not begin with an r but by and by
it is still a part of being a freshman.
Since forms of punishment or
inevitable in high school, you even
get punished for being a fraction of a
second late. This is no surprise to
sophomores, juniors and Seniors.

To the Freshmen "International
Trimnell Time" catches everyone
in a bind sooner or later. So the
next time you get caught in the hall
and hear a bell, hold you head high
because you're one step closer to
being a true Freshman!
Now don't get me wrong. These
are by far all of the agonizing parts
of being a freshman. But like they
say the good come along with the
bad in the game of life. So to define
Freshmen - it would be the
"The scientific study of the
inefficient dislocation of scarce
pressure among unlimited

VARSITY FOOTBALL

For many years, the Greyhound football team has accomplished numerous
goals, but never before has this group of young men taken on the challenge
of a sudden change of the head coach. Under the leadership of Coach Smith,
the team pressed forward to many victories, both on and off the field. The
biggest victory for the team was the pride and confidence shared among team
members. They will forever remember the famous words of Coach Smith,
If you do, you will, but if you dont, you wont.

The 1994 varsity football cheerleaders are fifteen voices strong. This year,
Mrs. Middlebrooks decided it was time to change cheerleading camps, so the
cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleading Association camp instead
of their usual National Cheerleading Association camp. The cheerleaders
won many awards, including the Leadership Plaque. Tasha Jarrell won the
squad a trophy at the dance off, and all the cheerleaders received many
ribbons for excellence and superior ratings, which are the highest awards.
To top it off, the cheerleaders brought home the Spirit Stick. The cheerleaders
have practiced very hard to entertain the fans at the Friday night football
games.

The men and women of Cross-Country Team put in many long and hard
hours of practice. It payed off as the girls won every meet, but one. The boys
also had a great season. Both of these teams placed first in this region meet.
Two runners, Trey Keadle and Kelli Jackson, made All-Middle Georgia Cross

Basketball

The boys basketball team overcame plenty of criticism this past year. Many
said that they were too small to be a good team, but through hard work and
determination they proved many people wrong. Having a 7-0 season going
into the Christmas Tournament, Jones County began to get more recognition
and praise. This season taught the team that hard work really pays off and
having character enables them to become better men.

First, I would like to give thanks to the 95 Growl staff,
because without their help, the book would not be so
wonderful. I will always treasure working with the 1995
Growl staff. Although at times, we had our differences,
we always worked things out. I would also like to thank
Mrs. M. Stewart for all her hard, dedicated work during
her first year as yearbook advisor.

As I leave the Doghouse, I will always carry with
me the good and bad, happy and sad memories that have
been engraved in me these past years. Together, we have
made the 1995 Growl one of the most read, famous and
interesting history books at JCHS. As for the remaining
staff, I will never forget the enchanting moments we shared
working on the Growl. For the rest of the student body,
just remember that we had a lot of fun IN THE DOG-
HOUSE.
