the Central High School
Our faculty works very long
trving time for all the
days organizing materials and
ting schedules prepared for the
day of school. The backbone of
operation is the office staff. The
spend many days making sure every
thing is correct. In doing so, they
deal with problems such as: changing
schedules, attending to new students,
and making sure everything is run-
ning as it should
Che first day of school for most
office personnel was said to be frus-
trating. There is so much pressure
and your basic goal is just to stay on
top of things, says Mrs. Mayhew,
registrar. She and the other person
nel arrive here at school around 7:00
a.m. and usually do not leave until
5:00 or 6:00 p.m
Since school has started, the office
has changed at least 500 schedules
The first day of school is hard and
trying on everyone. But

ARE BESTH
t random, Central students
were asked five questions
about lives and hobbies. We
found that Central stduents are very
similar!
Burger King ranked number one
in fast food restaurants with others
like Central Park and McDonalds
not too far behind. Wendys came in
close ranking fourth;
Students spend most of their mon-
ey on clothes and different forms of
entertainment. Gas and school lunch
were also top answers
The most traveled road was over-
whelmingly Mercer University and
Vineville Avenue and Napier Ave-
nue tied for second place.
Another question asked dealt with
shopping ready, set, charge! The
Macon Mall was a main attraction,
including all four department stores.
Smaller shops, like The Gap, the
Limited, and Athletic Attic were
also high on the list of favorites.
The last question asked was
What is your favorite type of car?
The very top answer was a BMW.
Right behind is an Escort and a Su-
zuki Sidekick. Surprisingly, Jaguars,
Miatas and Corvettes ranked low on
the list of student favorites.
Central students are as varied and
individual as any large group of peo-
ple, but they do share some common
interests and lifestyles.

hat is everyone wearing this year? Blasts
from the past and new things too! With the
1960s came peace, love, and happiness and
also mini-skirts and tye-dyed t-shirts. These days,
mini-skirts are everywhere and you can find anything
and everything tye-dyed. Many of the hippest outfits
at school have come straight from our parents old
closets. Since the building of the transcontinental rail-
road and the recognition of a man named Levi
Strauss, weve all had at least one outfit in common
with each other and most of our parents and teachers
too. The classic Levis-with-a-white-t-shirt-and-ten-
nis-shoes look will never be out! Most people
wouldnt trade their favorite pair of blue jeans for an
A in any subject.
So what does a nineties child wear? Well if you
asked you might hear, I wear: bangles, beads, bows,
spikes, neon, studs, watches, velcro, buttons, chucks,
leather, sweatshirts, sweaters, hats, hoods, overalls,
5
suede, umbros, tank tops, cut offs, Nikes, medallions, Deckheads
bobos, boots, bike shorts, Polos, pumps, peace signs, paisleys, satin,
fishing swivels, ...

5. DRESSED to impress!
1990- A new decade and the beginning
of a new age. Were still waiting for
Exxon to finish their clean-up job in
Prince Williams Sound. Nature has been
playing havoc with a couple of the U.S.s
major cities like Charleston, S.C. and San
Francisco, but still the U. S. has time for
new problems. Bush is still trying to
make his war on drugs effective but
thats been difficult while trying to prevent
a war with Iraq over cheap oil prices.
Space Shuttle Columbia is trying to get
off the ground, now on its third try. Not
only has the Berlin Wall come down but
the Communist barriers, separating East
and West Germany, re-uniting Germany
under a non-communist government.
Who_knows what this new decade will
hold! With a year like 1990 it should be
interesting.

Young lady, you know thats so!
Without such an excellent faculty and administration,
Central High School could not exist. These people set
the schools policies and goals.
The faculty and administration are responsible for the
growth of the school. They are involved in other activi-
ties such as coaching academic and athletics teams, ad-
vising clubs and classes and getting involved with student
activities.
The staff is very versatile. Several of our staff are
involved in community theater, music groups, recre-
ational and competitive sporting events and community
service organizations.
The faculty and administration play an important role
in the school. These people make Central High School
what it is today.

This football season for Central proved to be one full of frus-
trations. The mighty Chargers exploded with overwhelming vic-
tories in the beginning. Behind the running of William Blue
Cliett, the leader for the Chargers and a top prospect for college
football, the Chargers were expected to do well. But, Chargers
failed to finish with an impressive record. Maybe next year. Good
luck Chargers in 1991.

Basketball
Pages 138-145 designed by Chad Frazier
Central Basketball has made their
Marc this year by currently climbing
the ladder to number 2 position in the prep
poll. Leading the way are two brilliant sen-
iors, Marcus Grant and Marcus Little.
Grant has been very impressive, averaging
about 24 points per game and close to
eight rebounds followed by numerous ex-
hilarating slam dunks. Grant has proved to
everyone that he has a future in college
basketball.
Marcus Little is the Little Big man on
the court. At a height of 510 Little is
perhaps the Juice in the Orange. He is
the key to the whole functioning of this
team. Little also is planning to play college
basketball.
The rest of the team including starters
Michael Billingslea, Alvin Kitchens, and
Ennis Washington have proven to be
strong foundations for the Charger team.

The Central Soccer Team reached new heights this
year. In its second year the team proved to be quite a
powerhouse. City Championship was easily captured.
The team expanded to a regional schedule and once
again held its own. Soccer has become a very prominent
sport at Central High School.

The 1990 Varsity Baseball team
reigned as Co-City Champs this
year. The title was won after eight
straight wins. The team consisted of
many young and talented players.
With hard work and great coaching
by the now retired W.C. Jones, along
with assistant coach Steve Smith,
Central followed the road to a great
season.
Although Central failed in the
playoffs everyone seemed pleased
with the season. The past season was
dedicated to Coach W.C. Jones.
With a new road ahead, Central
Baseball will start a tradition of win-
ning.

The Central High School JROTC is
noted as one of the oldest JROTC units
in America, and ranks in the top 20%
across the country. The Central High
School JROTC started in 1917 when
Central was a school for boys; for fifty
years JROTC was a required class.
Through the years the JROTC class-

In March there is a Miliary Ball. On
parade days everyone has his brass
sparkling, and we can also see the Gold-

The last Friday concerts
provide local entertainers
the chance to perform. Seen
here are David Stevens, An-
drew Burnes, and Howard
Jefferson (The Buttercats)
Dax Taylor, Rachel
Weksler, Jason Mundy, and
Karen Porter seem to be en-
joying the show.
Macon and Victorian Village were treated
once again to the folk-acoustic-rock sounds of
Athens-based duo, Indigo Girls. A power
surge provided a half-hour intermission when
Amy Johnson's electric guitar delivered a jolt
of electricity. She was shaken, but unharmed.
The concert continued when things calmed
down, and was a great success.

3. The Georgia
State Fair is an
annual tradition
in Macon.
The beautiful sights of Macon attract
people from all reaches of life. Central
students are no exception. They like to get
out and about and see the many things
Macon has to offer. Macon is rich in its
historical treasures. The Hay House, the
Woodruff House, and the Sidney Lanier
Cottage are just a few of the historic
homes in the area.
Students might also like to spend a day
in the park. Whether playing a sport or
just enjoying the view, everyone can find
something he likes. Some of the favorites
are the Washington Park, Third Street
Park, and Central City Park.
The Georgia State Fair comes once a
year to Central City Park. The fair offers
students a chance to forget about work, be
with friends, and just have fun. All in all,
most students will agree that Macon is a
pretty neat place to be.

What do you think has become of young and old men?
They are alive and well somewhere,
The smallest sprout shows there is really no death,
And if ever there was it led forward life and does not
wait at the end to arrest it,
And ceasd the moment life appeard.
All goes onward and outward, nothing collapses,
And to die is different from what anyone supposed,

As many of you may be aware, 31 Central students recently
took a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 1990
Princeton Model Congress, a mock demonstration of how the
U.S. Congress actually works, run by students of Princeton
University in New Jersey. The Central students were accompa-
nied by three adults, including advisor Bessie Brown. All par-
ticipants will probably agree that the trip was a success.
Planning started early; a car wash was very successful, net-
ting over $250 in donations, a donut sale took place in Novem-
ber, with profits of well over $100. A spaghetti supper was also
held on November 30. Due to donations from parents of partic-
ipating students, and the work of parents and students, all
events proved worthwhile.
Upon arrival in Washington after a 14 hour Amtrak train
ride, students went directly to the Hyatt Regency on Capitol
Hill where all participants would stay, and where most events
would be held. A total of 756 students were present, represent-

ing 25 schools from various parts of the country. The majority
were from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Each
student had been previously assigned to a committee either in a
House or Senate of which there were three each. Each student
(who played the role of a Senator or Representative) had
written a bill or resolution suitable to their committee topic.
Some students had chose to be a part of the press corps, which
published two papers entitled The Princeton Gazette or the
National Security Council for which each participant wrote a
paper to be rated.
The following morning John Dunne, Assistant Attorney
General for Civil Rights, spoke to the Princeton Model Con-
gress of the importance of civil rights and the views on scholar-
ships and educational funding for minority students. The rest of
the morning and evening were dedicated to committee meet-
ings. The afternoon was free time.
Most of Saturday was used for committee meetings and
general sessions, during which bills that had already passed in
committee were brought forth to all of the Senate or all of the
House. Saturday evening, a dance was held for all participants.
Sunday; the final day, was spent in general sessions in the
morning. The weekend concluded with awards and a closing
ceremony.
Central faired quite well in the awards ceremony. Saumil
Shah came away with a gavel award and an award for out-
standing participation in the moot supreme court. Leon Brock,
who participated in the National Security Council received
superlative rating on his paper concerning the status of rela-
tions between China and the United States. Eric Tryggestad
received an award for his participation in the press corps.
Leighton Dumas was given an honorable mention for his par-
ticipation in committee. Will Moore and Greg Winters re-
ceived awards for their debating ability and the quality of their
bills.
The program gave students valuable insight in the legislative
process of our government, and a strong appreciation for the
legislation and legislatures of our country.

Dear Sunshine,
Graduation night, it was only yesterday. I still recall how
you marched down the aisle in perfect form, stepped onto
the stage when they called your name, and the look on
your tiny, radiant face when you were handed your diplo-
ma. Daddy and I had to wipe the tears away. We reas-
sured ourselves you were just a baby and that we would
have you for many more years, but that was yesterday and
this is today. Today it will be hard for us to give you up,
but it is our dream for all of your dreams to come true.
We are proud of you and the choices you have made and
of the love you have for your family, friends, God and our
country. Proverbs 31:29 says, Many daughters have done
virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Love, Mama and Daddy

As I look back on lifes trials,
I see where I have failed,
Making wrong decisions,
All along the trail.
Having learned from these experiences,
I have found something new,
To share with others,
The hardships that I have been through.
To think that I have helped
Is compensation enough,
To keep on striving,
Through the good times, and the tough.

Our beautiful cover is custom-designed, craftline em-
bossed. It was created by students during a brainstorm-
ing session at yearbook camp. This unique, one-of-a-kind
design uses our own mascots, the Charger and the Pega-
sus. The board weight is 120pt. The cover is black 535 on
a cordova grain material with applications of copper foil
382. The endsheets were designed for Central as well.
They are black ink on orange paper. The basic copy style
for the book is Times Roman. Other types, such as
Honda, Vineta, Brush Script, and American Text were
used. Dropped initials and lead-ins were used in the
opening section, along with a spot color application of
orange.
The point sizes are as follows:
captions 8pt.
body copy 10pt.
headlines 30pt.
division page 72pt.

What happened in 90-91?: the unity of East and
West Germany; Iraq invaded Kuwait; the return of
straight leg and belled pants; the Sixties look was
hip; rap music captured a number one rating on the
pop chart; freedom of speech still held up in court;
MTV banned Madonna; Bart Simpson said Dont
have a cow man and the country made him number
one; The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles frequented
Pizza Hut and every television and movie screen;
Bush raised taxes; Donald Trump took a dive; Cincin-
nati Reds won the World Series; McDonalds opened
its first store in the USSR; the Muppets creator, Jim
Henson was laid to rest; War was in and peace was
forgotten (however gasoline wasnt.)
As we come to the end of another year we reflect on
the past. To those graduating this year the future is
now in their hands. Lets hope its in their thoughts as
well.
