] say to you, my friends, that in spite of the
difficulties and frustrations of the moment T still
have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the
American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise
up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We
hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men
are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of
Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of
former slaveowners will be able to sit down together
at the table of brotherhood.

Beginning at the bottom, the Class of 73 worked
diligently during the year toward their goal of being
at the top. Wondering where to go, confused at the
mod system, and laboring over schoolwork, the Fresh-
man Class still had time to participate actively in
school events, Cheering at football, basketball, and
baseball games, sponsoring clothing and toy drives,
and plastering the walls of MDS with posters during
Spirit Week kept class spirit high. It was a long, hard
year made easier by the good times the class shared.

SPEED was the slogan that helped yearbook club
members raise $3,500 in their successful publications drive
in early October.
After financial matters were settled, actual production
began. Drawing layouts, planning and taking pictures,
writing captions, and typing copy kept staff members busy
during the winter months. March brought the last-minute
rush to meet the deadline. Finally, the material was on its
way to the publisher. Another year was recorded for
posterity !

The 69-'70 football season was filled with excitement!
It will be hard to forget the most thrilling game of the year
in which de Sales walked off with a 12-6 victory over Warren
County. The defeat of Sparta not only added another victory,
but also the prestige of a region title, Although our Cavaliers
lost a hard-fought battle against Savannah Country Day in
the semi-finals, there is still the satisfaction of having
reached for the stars.
The highlight of the football season was the honor re-
ceived by Coac h Garvin who was nominated Coach of the
