An I,D, Bracelet changes hands and a figure, tall
broadshouldered strides quickly down the hall. Then
comes the sound of sobbing only half-muffled by
small, finely-shaped hands, The huddle breaks; the teams
get ready for the play. Suddenly a weaving, dodging,
twisting figure hurtles into the clear, running all out
under the bright lights, He crosses a white line, content
now to drop his precious prize. The crowd roars, TOUCH-
DOWNI!! Because it is not only a law of physics, but also
a law of life, this years Growl Staff has chosen as its
theme Newtons Law

For every ACTION
There is ... REACTION.

TOUCHDOWN! The crowd roars! All sports
are filled with action and reaction, probably more
obviously than any other phase of school life. Not
only the players, but also the crowd and cheer-

leaders have shown enthusiasm, tears, and other
emotions throughout the year.

A bright flash ... a click of the shutter...
a picture has been taken. An action has been

captured; the reaction will be released when you

look at these pictures.

Surprise, Mrs, Pulliam!

Andy, Ann, Julie, and
Penny pose for a picture
on the Capitol steps.
Guess when!

No football game, basketball
game, or pep rally would be
complete without our Alma Mater.
Likewise this yearbook would be
lacking an important element
without it.

ALMA MATER

On the city's western border,
Reared against the sky,

Proudly stands our Alma Mater,
As the years go by.

Forward ever be our watchword,
Conquer and prevail,

Hail to thee our Alma Mater,
J.C. H.S., all hail.

Students, students, students, running to and fro like so many
ants, Students sitting in classrooms, running to lunch, talking, fight-
ing, laughing, always on the go. Wherever they are, whatever they're
doing, the students make their school. From the youngest freshest
seventh grader to the oldest most somber senior, the students represent
their school ... they are the school, Without the students the school
has no purpose, no being; it is just an empty shell with no feeling.
Then the students come and the school is alive with joys, sorrows,
laughter, and tears. Because the yearbook is a pictorial history of the
school year, the Yearbook staff is proud to dedicate the 1970 Growl to
you... the Student Body of Jones County High School ... the
Greyhounds.

MONTICELLO

Jones County's Greyhounds opened
the season at home and on a winning
note by beating out the Hurricanes of
Monticello 24-14 as both Floyd Comer
and Dean Faulkner crossed the goal
line twice.

EAST LAURENS

The Greyhounds next took on
the Rams of East Laurens and

pulled off their first real upset by
solidly beating their opponents
39-14, Again Floyd Comer
crossed the goal line twice while
Faulkner and Ronnie Womack

both crossed once. Womack added
a l-and 2 point conversion,

MACON COUNTY

The Greyhounds next journeyed to Macon

County for a try at the Rebels. But the men of
Macon proved to be up to the task of stopping our
team's winning ways as the hounds fell 18 to 13.
Dean Faulkner and Ronnie Womack each scored
once and Womack kicked a P, A. T. to round out

the scoring for the Hounds.

HAWKINSVILLE
The Hounds next played host to the Red

Devils and fell 13 to 0 before their "HOT"
offense.

WILKINSON CO,

The next week our hounds paid a visit to
the Warriors of Wilkinson County. The hounds
got scalped 38 to 6. The only score for the
Hounds came on a pass from Floyd Comer
to Ray Lyles.

G.M.C,

The G.M.C. Bulldogs came up from
Baldwin County to avenge their loss of a year
ago and went back with a 6 to 0 victory over

the Hounds.

COCHRAN

The team next journeyed to Cochran and
furious over their train of losses, unseated the
Royals 14-0. Both Dean Faulkner and Floyd Comer
crossed the goal line once while Womack kicked
both PAT'S,

PUTNAM

The Hounds then went to Putnam County for
a try at the Blue Devils. In a cold, wet, game
the Hounds made things "HOT" for the Blue Devils.
Stunning them 24 to 22, Floyd Comer lugged the

Pigskin over for two TD's and three PAT 's, and

passed to Ray Lyles for another.

FT. VALLEY

Homecoming night brought
Fort Valley and another victory
to the hounds as they pulled
the biggest upset of the season,
stunning the Wave 14 to 8 as
Womack and Charles Lane
scored one a piece and Womack
kicked the PAT'S,

JOHNSON COUNTY

Following their victory over the Fort Valley
Waves, Jones County's Greyhounds journeyed to

Johnson County to battle the Tigers. But the Tigers

turned to Housecats as they were romped by the
Hounds 44 to 20, Touchdowns came from Floyd
Comer, who had two and a two point conversion.
Charles Lane who had one, Dean Faulkner, Ray
Lyles, and Lonnie Harris, each of which had one.

ANNE HAMRICK NANCY GREENE

It was a great season! The vic-
tories were thrilling, but some-
times the scoreboard indicated
heartbreaking losses. The team
members learned how to accept a
loss with dignity just as they accept-
ed a win with humbleness. The
season was a success, and much was
gained by all,

All the seniors agree, "We're
sure gonna miss it..."

"Dont run away Martin, HELP ME!"

That's a NO-NO,

Goolsby.

No need to rebound Annie's ball!

CLASS PROPHECY 1970

The members of the 1970 graduating class at JCHS are beginning to arrive now. It
doesn't seem like 15 years since they walked down the fateful aisle at JCHS. We are deeply
grateful to David Moore, tycoon playboy of the year, for letting us use his mansion here in
Beverly Hills for our reunion. David started his fortune as janitor of Davison's in Macon,
Georgia, under the direction gf Aubrey Gore who is presently General Manager of Davison's
nationwide. Vicki Kicklighter, David's private secretary, stands ready for dictation.

Over to the left around the fountain, we see the president of Kool-Aid Incorporated,
Murray Smith. With him is his V. President in charge of distribution - Donald Evans. Walking
toward them is nationally known beach bum, Sue Thompson. She has just returned from
Panama City, Florida, her summer home,

Out by the pool, I see the show people gathering to share their autographs, Debra
Folendore, dairy queen of 1985 is busy passing out autographs. Louise Hayslip accompanied
by Bubba Jackson has been the hit of the country western concert at the old Macon Coliseum.
Ronnie Nichols, star of the new TV series, Super Noodles, gives his autograph to Andy Melvin
who is presently secretary at JCHS. Dale Foster and Steve Carter, the new Dale Evans and
Roy Rogers of Hollywood, left Silver outside. Silver is the name of their 1985 Vette Stingray.
Linda Sue Foskey is known on international TV for her famous Russian commercial, She asks,
"Do Reds have more fun?" Her hairstylist is the world renowned Mary Jo Gatliff, Nancy
Greene, lead singer of the red hot singing group - The Purple People Eaters has just given her
autograph to her old school chum, Anne Hamrick. Anne Hamrick has just signed a contract
with the Pittsburg Powder Puffs as quarterback. Penny Wade stands nearthem. She has made
a great come-back with her version of "Mustang Sally."

One important celebrity is not chatting with this group. It is romantic singer, Robert
Lovelady. He has just announced that he plans to run for governor of Georgia. He is talking
with Jimmy Horton, star of Horton's Hornets Basketball team. Tommy Myers, now under
contract with the Atlanta Braves, shares his exciting victories with Jimmy.

Just arriving outside is Julie Henderson, famous and rich concert pianist. She is being
chauffeured in the latest of her collection of GTO's, It was designed by Johnny Maddox,
President of Nationwide Pontiac. As she enters, she chats with her old school chum, Ruthie
Golson who is presently dean of men at Auburn University.

Debra Craine enters in one of her own creations. She is employed by one of the most
exclusive fashion lines in London now owned by Marilyn Kitchens. Marilyn holds the title
of Miss World 1985. She is talking with Shirlene Batchlor and Kay Touchton who have just
concluded their newest chain of petite clothing stores.

Margie Harrison, bridal consultant at Riches of Atlanta, is seen discussing the latest
fashions with Debra Maynard, owner of the world's largest chain of dry goods and general stores.
Donna Donaldson, President of the Beatle's Fan Club, is being interviewed by Gaye Phillips.
the editor of the Women's section of Vogue Magazine. Next, Gaye will interview Gail Miller
who placed first in the Olympics for speed in typing and shorthand.

Tommy Todd, President of Volkswagen International, has just arrived in his 1985 VW.
Since he had such respect for law enforcement in his youth, he is a part-time Georgia State
Trooper. He is seen talking to the first woman pope, Dianne Martin.

Gabe Taylor, owner of the largest gambling casino in Las Vegas, has just arrived in his
tuxedo. He seems to be making his way through the crowd to Jon Sellers. From what I've
heard, Jon is the leading hustler at Gabe's casino. Wanda Manning has cornered Jon. She
is the head of the Women's Temperance League against profanity.

David Comer, mayor of Wamer Robins, talks over the affairs of big cities with the mayor

of Haddock, Johnny Avery. Johnny is very proud indeed of Haddock's new medical center.
Head nurses there are Wanda Bentley and Connie Johnson.

George Mason has just inherited a large grant of land now known as The Mason Plantation.
This is the ideal test track for farm machinery, Ronald Evans, owner of Evans Tractor
International has rented an area of four miles for testing his tractors. America's leading test
driver of tractors, Denny Greene, is seen talking to an insurance woman, Penny Broach.

Pam Roberts, Metropolitan Opera star, is seen talking to Kibby Greene. Since Kibby's
flop on Broadway in the Sound of Silence, she has taken over Dear Abby's Counseling Columns.

Carol Foster, head cheerleader at Georgia Tech, has just left. She couldn't stay but for
a minute, She had to catch a plane to Texas where she is head of a National Cheerleading
Clinic to be held in Dallas this week. Before she left she had a chance to talk to her old
school friend, Carol Ann Kitchens. She is at present the nurse for Comer's Plumbing Company.
Alvin Andrews is a part time plumber there but is better known for his racing of 6-cylinders.

Sherry McCant, home economics teacher at JCHS, enters with Tony Miller who is FFA
advisor there. Carolyn Fountain, national Senior President of FHA is talking with Deana
Gaultney. Deana gave up her elaborate career in FHA to become co-owners of Nobles Kennels,
owned and operated by Steve Nobles. They specialize in raising Greyhounds.

Alton Chambless and John Ross are in the den to our left where they are Indian wrestling.
This is only a small spirit of competition because the next week they will box for the heavy-
weight championship of the world. Referee for this match will be Fred Bilderback. Standing
nearby is Gene Brewer. He is famous around the world for his success in carpeting the White
House with psychedelic rugs.

Stanley Holmes now owns a very exclusive men's shop in New York - Stanley Manly
Fashions, With him is Calvin Simmons who made his fortune in the manufacture of mirrored
sunglasses.

Two famous livestock specialists are sharing methods of raising. Sharon Wincey owns
Wincey Stables, and Clara Comer owns Comer Deer Ranch. They are talking with Delores
Altman, Vice President in charge of her husband's oil stations with its headquarters in
Savannah, Georgia.

Kathy Borah just flew in from Washington DC where she teaches speed reading in the
White House. She and an old classmate Ronald Cauley were aboard the same flight. Ronald,
now director of the FBI, flew in for the reunion too, Kathy Mock, head stewardess of Pan
American Airlines gave them an extra special trip since she was a 1970 graduate of JCHS, too.

Rhonda Bares has just been seated in the parlor. She is the author of the new best-
seller "How to Get Your Man and Keep Him," With her is her co-author and sister-in-law,
Joyce Fulford. Talking with them is Quenton Bragg who has taken time away from his busy
golf tour to be here today. Incidentally, Quenton just won the Master's Golf Tournament of
1985.

Jim Carpenter, President of Brillo Pads Inc. , discusses business with Ponder Childs, now
owner of the Purina Chow Mills and Ed Gochenour owners of Gochenour Groceries.

As we move toward the dining room, we see Linda Griffin talking to Bea Rozier. Linda
is master of ceremonies of the Hi-Q program on TV. Bea sponsors the show with her honey from
the Famous Bea Honey Farms.

Now in the dining room we see the place of honor at the head of the table has been
reserved for Ronnie Holloway, United States Champion Pie Eater. But wait a moment, a
helper has just informed me that Karen Conn, head chef of the kitchen, has burned our Bettye
Crocker supper. So it will be delayed quite a bit. So until next reunion remember:
