FOREWORD

Almost a decade ago Macon County High School
was established. During the next years, students and
teachers came and went, each adding his own special
touch. By 1966 the young school had out-grown its
building, the year of the big move had begun.
With this new spacious plant, what else could be need-
ed! Yet, the spirit of growth at M.C.H.S. was still
burning brightly. Last fall the buzz of saws and the
bang of hammers could still be heard above the chatter
of the students. These were the sounds of the building
of four new class rooms, a band room, a choral room,
and new porticoes.

The staff of the 1968 BRIDGE is proud to present
a portion of the continuing story of Macon County

High Schools growth.

The Class of 68

Dedicates

The 1968 Bridge to

Burgoyne Gibson Moores
because

We love, respect and admire him. The Macon County Revel Bands, under
his leadership and direction, have done more to unify Macon County
and ease existing tensions than any single factor in the last eight years.

In Government Class We at Macon County High are proud of Mr. Moores and we are proud of
OUR band. His superb techniques, diligence and understanding have pro-
duced for us the best high school band in Georgia.

A Word
from

Mr. Centers

Working with the faculty and stu-
dents at Macon County High School to
provide a quality education program is
a real pleasure. We are continually look-
ing at student needs and making adjust-
ments in our curriculum. Much of our
success can be explained in terms of
new facilities, dedicated teachers, and
enthusiastic, ambitious students. Let us
not forget that community interest and
cooperation are the foundations on
which we build a good school program.
