Two letters of February 1918 from Robert Baden-Powell to Juliette Gordon Low discuss Girl Guide activities in England during the war. Some letters of June 1918 between Carl Vrooman, O.B. Martin, James E. Russell, and Juliette Gordon Low are about Girl Scout activities in areas of food production and conservation, such as planting war gardens, canning preserving, pickling. Letters of June and November 1918 from Edith Benham to Juliette Low tell about Mrs. Wilson's activities as Honorary President of the Girl Scouts. Letters of September and August 1918 between P.P. Claxton and Juliette Gordon Low tell about Girl Scout efforts to get pupils to remain in school. Accompanying one of these letters is a letter from President Woodrow Wilson to Secretary of the Interior Franklin Lane on the subject of keeping boys and girls in school. A letter of August 12, 1918 from W. Prentice Sanger, to Juliette Gordon Low talks about Girl Scout work with War Camp Community Services. Other letters of 1918 also mention war time projects and activities of the Girl Scouts. Letters of February and April 1919 refer to the trip of the Baden-Powells to the United States and one of these letters mentions a Girl Scout film. In a letter of November 1919 to Miss ? MacDonald, Juliette Gordon Low, asks her to send Girl Guide literature to be placed in the Library of Congress. In a letter of December 1919 from Juliette Gordon Low to Sir Sidney Greveille, thanks are expressed for the message to Scouts from Edward, Prince of Wales; a copy of the message is attached.
