Mrs. Pearlie Lou Blocker Davis, daughter of the late Edith Britton
Blocker, luas bom June 7, 1940 in Claxton Georgia, located in
Evans County. She greiv up in a simple but loving Christian home,
the youngest of 3 children. She was preceded in death by her
mother, and both brothers; Willie D. Bbcker and Albert Bunchie
Blocker.
She graduated from Evans County High School, and upon
completion of her studies at secretarial school in Savannah,
Georgia, she moved to Jacksonville, Fbrida. It was here that she
met and married her life partner and loving husband. Deacon
Willie Leo Davis.
After bearing two sons, Darrell and Dougbs Davis, Pearlie went to
nursing school at FJC. Her first posting as a R.N. was at Methodist
Hospital. Pearlie bter moved over into home care, with a focus on
children with special needs. Her bving, and reassuring nature made
her a natural in this field. She quickly became mother and
grandmother to both her patients, and their families. She would
often keep in touch with these families well after her professional
duties had ended. She transcended her profession and became
known simply as Miss Pearl.
She retired in the bte 90s, and then moved into her favorite role,
bving on her family. In her eyes, neither birth nor bloodline defined
family. If she knew you, you were one of hers. Wife, mother, and
grandmother were the badges she wore most proudly, and she wore
them every day.
After a brief illness, Pearlie went home to be with the Lord on
Thursday, April 10, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 49
years, Deacon Willie L. Davis; her two sons, Danell (Charliemae)
and Douglas; her two grandchildren, Karen and James; sister-in-
bw, Dolores D. Payne; many nieces, nephews, and in-bws.
Notabb for her continuous smib and her giving nature. Pearl
proibly professed her unwavering belief and faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ. She had made a conscience decision to folbw His word, and
never wavered from her belief that she was continuously field dearly
in His hands. As a family, v)e are heb strong in the knowbdge that
she is there with him nouK

Grann;y was one of the people that changed my
life dramatically. She taught me that with hard
work: determination, ambition, and a lot faith
will take you far in life. She told me to love and
respect elders, fiiends, co-workers, enemies, myself,
and GOD. Regrettably, I didnt tell her I love
you enough before she left. The last thing she
said was when 1 get into Stanton, I should give
her a call and tell her. I found out I made it, but
it was too late. Although I miss her. Im glad that
she is at peace and with the LORD. She loved
everyone no matter what. Im glad she was my
granny.

My grandmother was always special to me; we
would laugh and talk one anothers ears off about
whatever ive wanted. She would support me
during my time in school and during my mission
trips. She was so proud of me and my brother.
People who I have never met knew all about me
through my grandmother. I remember a couple of
years ago my brother and I gave her a mug that
still describes her pei'sonality to this day. It said,-
Granny is my name, and spoiling is my game!!
