Obituary
Julius Ceasar Banks Jr., was bom on July 7, 1924 in
Evans County Georgia to the late Mattie Akins and
Julius Ceaser Banks, Sr. He married Sara Godbee in
1944 who preceded him in death after 33 years of
marriage. He was then blessed in marriage to Flossie
Medlock in 1981 to whom he remained devoted to for
the past 33 years. On Tuesday, January 14, 2014, he
completed his earthly journey for a well deserved eternal
rest with his heavenly father.
Becoming a member of St. John Missionary Baptist
Church at an early age, he eventually became the
chairman of the deacon board, serving for over 50 years.
He was educated at Evans County Training Sehool. After
school, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served
during WW II. After the war, he worked for the United
States Civil Service until retirement. In his capacity as a
deacon, he fulfilled his Godly duty to both the church
and the community. He was well known in the
community as a servant, caring for the elderly, ehildren,
and many others when he saw the need. Deacon Banks
was one of the founding members of the Gladiators
Incorporated. He was also a life-time member of St.
Joseph Masonic Lodge #76.
His union with his devoted wife Flossie provided him
with an abundance of life, creating a blended family with
a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He and his
devoted wife whom he called Pumpkin loved to fish.
He leaves many to mourn his passing and cherish the memories
of a life well lived. Those left with the greatest pain in their
hearts but the fondest memories are his surviving wife Flossie
Banks and his daughter Catherine Banks Murphy. He also leaves
to cherish his memory a stepson Robert Collins (Patricia); a step
daughter Gail Struchies (Jimmy); grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. In addition, the community will mourn the loss of
a eommunity pillar and servant of God.
Memories
The time will come when 1 must say goodbye to those 1 love,
when my body will be too sick and worn out to keep me here,
when my season in this world will be over. 1 thank You for
the many years You have given me and ask that You be with
me and my family when my time does come. Comfort those I
will leave behind, reminding them that 1 have had a full, and
productive life. And that my tirne is in Your hands.
Farewell Our Precious Grandfather
Farewell our precious grandfather
Your race on Earth is done
You now live in heaven
With God and His gracious son
Although our heart mourns for you
And our eyes are filled with tears
We are thankful that we had you
To love and guide us through the years
You were always an inspiration
Your strength, it knows no bounds
We know that God has blessed you
With many heavenly crowns
So farewell our precious grandfather
You will always be in our heart
We will remember your gentle teachings
From which weTl never part
