MRS. ELIZABETH MATTOX CARTER
Home going Celebration..........................
Mrs. Elizabeth Mattox Carter, 97 yrs. young, entered eternal rest on April 7,
2009 in Claxton, Georgia.
Elizabeth Mattox Carter was born to James Charles Mike! and Geneva Brewton
Mike! on April 6,1912. Elizabeth was the middle child of eleven siblings. She was
called Liz or Lizzie for short. Liz grew up with the boys which made her tough
enough. As the story goes, she could out run and out fight them all. We have no
way of corroborating that story because Mrs. Elizabeth Mikel Mattox Carter is the
last of the DYNASTY of Siblings from the 'MIKEL CLAN.
She attended school in the Tattnall/Evans County School District. She did not fur-
ther her education because Big Jim, her father, depended on her to help him
around the farm and to drive him around in his automobile. You see, Lizzie was a
quick learner with a Sharpe mine.
Lizzie was married to a man named Lattimore Mattox, who she met at Church.
Their marriage was blessed with five children, one (Harry Mattox), of which pre-
ceded her in death. Lattimore passed on in 1973. Lizzie continued to serve the Lord
at Green Cypress Church where she was as a child.
Several years passed before she remarried a man named Henry Carter and they
were married for more than 25 years before he too, passed on in 2006.
Mrs. Elizabeth Mattox Carter was a hard working women, she worked for Claxton
Poultry Company for more than 25 years before retiring. Wanting to make sure their
children had secure futures; she and Lattimore sent four of their five children to col-
lege on their meager salaries. Thomas elected to go Into the air force. She was a
strong, stubborn and proud Black woman who always wanted the best for her fam-
I ily. We, Nokaleta, Clara, Thomas, and Marvin are very proud to have been born
to Elizabeth and Lattimore Mattox who nurtured and guided us with their mag-
nanimous tough love.
Mrs. Elizabeth Mattox Carter is survived by two sons,
Thomas(Roberta) Mattox, Denver, Co., Marvin Mattox, Amarillo, TX., and two
daughters, Nokaleta Cardriche, Anaheim, California, Clara Williams, Savannah,
Georgia; 15 Grandchildren, and a number of great grand children, nieces,
nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Miss Me, But let me go
Well, I have come to the end of my road.
Facing no more heavy loads. This journey we all must take,
Remember, God makes no mistakes. It's all a part of the
master's plan, A step on the road to home. Miss me a little -
but not too long. For this is a journey we all must take, and
each must go alone.
^^iTLamo/s^ to/ now/.
When you are lonely and sick of
heart. Go to the lord in prayer. He will take care of all your needs.
After all. He gave me '97 years',
to share my good deeds. Miss me, but let me go,
