Ivy^s Obituary
vy Brown, son of Willie Mae Brown Hagan and the late John Lester
Brown Sr., was bom on November 21, 1948 in Tattnall County, Georgia. He
departed this life on January 31, 2007.
Ivy was educated in Evans County Training School. He graduated from
Edison High School in Elizabeth, NJ.
He was a hard working man highly skilled in carpentry. He was employed
for many years beginning with Custom Decorating Inc. in Keamy NJ, Allen
Industries in Rahway, NJ, Phoenix Sons in Newark, NJ, Evans Rules, in
Elizabeth NJ and retired from Exxon Oil in Linden, NJ.
In 1968, Ivy met Florence M Hubbard and they were united in matrimony on
August 26, 1969 and to this union, three children were bom. He was a
loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who always shared his
love with a smile and a hug. He truly cared for all of his family. He was
known to be generous to a fault. He just loved everyone and never wanted to
see anyone in need.
Ivy was the seventh of ten children. He is predeceased by one sibling,
Lucuis Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Florence
M. Brown, his three daughters, Sonja D. Johnson and husband Robert, Tonja
C. Rice and husband Alphonso and Yolanda L. Brown; His mother, Willie
Mae Brown Hagan, four sisters, June Helen Clark, Freddie Mae Lewis and
husband Lester, Leila Brooks and husband James, Mary L. Mackey, four
brothers, Norman Brown, Ernest Brown and wife Annette, Alphonso Brown
and wife Bernice, and John Lester Brown Jr., daughter-in-law, Ann Brown,
the wife of the late Lucuis Brown, eight grandchildren, Terrell K. Ivy
Walker, TyGee and Tahsaan Woods, Joshua A. Rice, Baheim Doyle, Javan
N. Johnson, Robert A Johnson II and James E. Johnson, two Godchildren,
Telly Vestal and Na-Na Scott, one loving aunt, Sula Moody, a special cousin,
Waymon Moody and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and
special friends. He will be missed but never ever forgotten.
What can we say but THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
The Brown family would like to take this time to say thank you for
your love, your support and timely prayers. Because of the love of
God and your selflessness, we are strengthened. We ask that you
continue to pray for our inner strength as we go through lifes
journey. Dad taught us to be strong women and to strive for
success in all that we do. His motto for us would be these words:
7 am the best,
And better than all the rest.
