Edna Bertha Brown Williams was bom the seventh of eight
children on October 15, 1926 to the late Sandy and Bertha Brown in
Bullock County, Georgia. On the evening of Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at
9:15 p.m., the angel of silence came into the room of Edna B. Williams
at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, with chilly fingers and
sealed the lips of our loving mother. Her soul winged its flight from this
world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of eternal rest.
Edna received her formal education at Dickerson High School in
Vidalia, Georgia. She received her Nursing Assistant Certificate from
Evans Memorial Hospital and was a dedicated employee for many years.
Edna was joined in Holy Matrimony with Deacon Woodrow
Williams for a blissful twenty-five years. This union was blessed with
the birth of five wonderful children. She was committed to and worked
hard for her family. Edna was respected and loved by her neighbors and
the community.
She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and served at St.
Luke Baptist Church faithfully for many years. She served on the
Missionary Society, President of the Choir and Deaconess Board. Again
the angel of death has invaded the ranks of St. Paul Baptist Church and
carried away a loyal and dedicated member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Williams in
1970 and a son, Winford Williams in 1988. Mother Williams leaves to
mourn her passing and to cherish her memory: her children. Reverend
Johnny Levant of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Reverend Woodrow
Williams (Lorena) of McDonough, Georgia, Ms. Carrie Bryant of
College Park, Georgia, Minister Patricia Ann Robinson of Atlanta,
Georgia, Mrs. Pearlean Childs (Jeff) of Savannah, Georgia; daughter-in-
law, Jennifer Williams; two brothers, Mr. David Brown and Mr. Rufus
Brown, both of Daisy, Georgia; one uncle, Mr. David Clark of
Jacksonville, Florida; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; six
sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
Lifes race, well run; Lifes work, well done;
Lifes crown, well won; and she is now at rest!

A Mothers love is something that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion and sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away...
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking.
And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking...
It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns.
And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems...
It is far beyond defining, t defies all explanations.
And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation...
A many splendored miracle man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence of Gods tender guiding hand.
At a time like this, when sorrow invades the heart and
home, it means so much to have loving friends and family. We
are truly grateful for all expressions of sympathy, whether it
was a visit you made that comforted us, a telephone call that
consoled our hearts, a prayer to strengthen us or floral tributes
to lift our spirits. We thank you so much whatever the part.
May God always grant unto you His richest blessings.
