Obituary
jCLthel James Jones was bom February 28,
1931 to the late Ms. Ola Reynolds and the late
Mr. Calvin Robbins, in Zeblon, Georgia.
She became a member of Thomas Grove
A.M.E. Church under the pastoral leadership of
Reverend Rodney McIntyre. Never ashamed of
the gospel, diligent in sharing the "Good News
of God through song, it was befitting that she
served as the president of the Thomas Grove .
A.M.E. Church choir for several years until her
health declined. Throughout the community, her
church, family and friends, she enjoyed
proclaiming-with wit-God's grace and
thanksgiving. Her employment at WCLA radio
station, Claxton, GA allowed her an avenue to
share herself with the community.
"Ms. Ethel" was preceded in death by a son,
the late Mr. Claude Robbins, Sr. She made her
transition from this earth to life eternal on
Thursday, January 27, 2000 in her home in
Claxton, GA..
She will continue to live through the lives of
her survivors who will cherish her memory;
daughter, Ms. Emily Scott, Brooklyn, NY; son,
Mr. Lee Grant, Claxton, GA; grandchildren
reared as her own; Mrs. Sylvia Boggs (Carlos);
Miss April Grant, Miss Becky Love, Mr. Claude
Robbins, Jr. (Louise), all of Claxton, GA;

The Bravest Battle
The bravest battle that ever was fought!
Shall I tell you where and when?
On the maps of the world you will find
it not;
It was fought by the mothers of men.
Not with a cannon or battle-shot,
Not a sword or noble pen;
Not with eloquent words or thought
From mouths of wonderful men!
But deep in a walled-up woman's heart-
Of a woman that would not yield.
But bravely, silently bore her part- -
There is that battlefield!
f
No marching troops, no bold song.
No banner to gleam and wave;
But oh! these battles, they last so long-
From babyhood to the grave.
Yet, faithful still as a bridge of stars,
She fghts in her walled-up town-
Fights on and on in the endless wars.
Then, silent, unseen, goes down.
Oh, ye with banners and battle-shot.
And soldiers to shout and praise!
I tell you the kingliest victories fought
Were fought in those silent ways.
O spotless woman in a world of shame.
With splendid and silent scorn.
Go back to God as white as you came-
The kingliest warrior born!
