OBITUARY
Mr. Rufus (Pete) Smith was born September 15, 1941.
He departed this life May 8,1984 in Bronx, New York.
He was a native of Evans County but had lived in New
York for many years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant
Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to mourn a wife, Mrs. Julia Smith,
Montazuma, Ga., five children, Weldon Smith, Derrick
Smith, Dentre Smith, Nade Smith and Valerie Smith; His
father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Smith, Claxton,
Ga. Four sisters, Mrs. Ann Peters, Claxton, Ga., Mrs.
Patricia Kent, Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Carrie Holmes, Berlin,
Germany, and Miss Donnie Smith, Claxton, Ga. Six brothers,
Roosevelt Smith, Jr., Albany, Ga., Freddie L. Smith,
Savannah, Ga., George Felton Smith, Reidsville, Ga.,
Welton Smith, Claxton, Ga., Joel Smith, Los Angeles, Calif.,
and Eddie James Smith, Hivelock, N. C., his grandmothers,
Mrs. Carrie Smith, Claxton, Ga., and Mrs. Emma Cobbs,
Statesboro, Ga., one grandchild, and a host of uncles, aunts,
cousins, and other relatives.
