OBITUARY
Servant of God; well done. Rest from thy love employ.
The battle is fought, the victory is won; enter thy masters
joy.
Mr. Willie Bacon was born in Evans County October 9,
1914, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Bacon. He departed
this life at 3 a.m., Sunday morning at the Evans County
Memorial Hospital.
At an early age, he joined the St. John Baptist Church
where he served faithfully as a Deacon for many untiring
years. He was married to the late Mrs. Mary Oxendine In the
year of 1932. To this union seven children were born, one of
whom has preceded him in death. After the passing of his
beloved wife, he was later joined in holy matrimony to Mrs.
Mattie Stringe. They lived a happy life together until God
saw fit to call him home. For the past two years, he was a
member of the Smith Chapel Holiness Church. There he
served well.
He leaves to mourn his passing, a devoted wife, Mrs.
Mattie Bacon of Claxton, Georgia; two sons, Mr. Maurice
Bacon of Bronx, New York, Mr. Albert Bacon of VIdalla, Ga.;
four daughters, Mrs. Mary Lee Byrd and Martha Lee Bacon
of Claxton, Ga., Mrs. Freddie Chance of Savannah, Ga., Mrs.
Elizabeth Robinson of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs.
Eulie West of Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Dorotha Massey of New
York City, Mrs. Marion Jordan of Jacksonville, Fla., and
Mrs. Elloise Bacon of Rocky Mountain, North Carolina; two
brothers, Mr. Juarneal Bacon of New York City, Mr. Wade
Bacon, Savannah, Ga.; one aunt, Mrs. Dora Bordue of
Collins, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grands; two
sons-ln-law; 6 brothers-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law; and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
When the actors have played their last drama
And the mimic has made his last fun
When the film has flashed his last picture
And the billboard displayed its last run
When crowds seeking pleasure having vanished
And gone out into darkness again
When the trumpet of ages is sounded
Ill be home at last.
