THE COUNTY FAIR.
The county fair is an institution, general ly speaking, occupies a place second to none in the field of education and development. A rep resentative display of the county's products showing variety and quality, assembled annu ally, gives a splendid opportunity for study and comparison, thereby leading to improvement along all lines.
The county fair stands as the active expo nent of improved agriculture; improved live stock and schools, and better homes. These things influencing, as they do, the lives and character of the people, their improvement means better and more patriotic citizens.
The Coffee County Fair Association will, this year, hold its tenth annual exhibition. To the end that the coming fair may far surpass all former efforts, the management invokes the co-operation and liberal patronage of all the people.
GENERAL RULES.
The rules governing each department will be found in connection with the premiums of fered, and all persons making exhibits should acquaint themselves with same.
Plans of the grounds and exhibit buildings are in the hands of the Secretary, and all par ties desiring information along this line will be supplied by calling at the Secretary's office.
All entries must be made on blanks sup plied by the Association for the purpose. If the entry blank sent with this premium list is lost, call upon the Secretary for another. In filling in entry blanks, please write plainly,

giving name, class and number of premium for
which entry is made.
All entries for competition shall be under the control of the Superintendent in charge of the department in which they are entered un less otherwise provided for by special rule.
All exhibits must be in place and properly installed by 10 o'clock on Tuesday, November 9th, the opening day of the fair.
Guards will be on the ground both day and night, and the Association will do all it can to protect exhibits, but will not assume responsi bility for any loss or damage that may occur.
Freight and express charges must be paid
by exhibitors. Should it be ascertained that the exhibitor
has made, or caused to be made, any false state ment in regard to an exhibit, or if he should in any manner attempt to interfere with the judges in the performance of their duties, he will be barred from competition and from furtheir exhibiting on the grounds.
No article in any of the departments can compete for more than one premium, unless otherwise stated.
The fair management reserves the right to decline any exhibit that may be objectionable, or that does not possess sufficient merit to be of interest to the fair.
No superintendent of a department will be allowed to compete for a premium in his own department.
All exhibits received and installed must be kept in their places until 2:00 p. m. on the clos ing day of the fair.
The judges will award cash premiums only on the articles named in the premium list.
The decision of the judges will be final, and no appeal will be considered except in case of

protests, which must be filed in writing with the Secretary of the Association.
In all the departments, unless otherwise fixed by special rule, in case of no competition in any of the classes, first prize money will be withheld, but a first premium ribbon will be awarded and second prize money paid.
No premium will be awarded when the ex hibit is unworthy.
No one will be allowed to act as judge in the department in which he exhibits.
The premiums will be designated by colors: Blue meaning first; Red, second; White, third; Yellow, fourth.
Exhibitors may sell, at their respective stands, any article displayed to be delivered at the close of the Fair. In case the exhibitor cannot be present he must give written order to the Secretary or the Superintendent of the department in which the exhibit is made.
The following charges will be made for ad mission : Adults ................ ...............50c. Children, 6 to 12 years.................. 25c.
For season tickets, team passes, etc., apply to the Secretary.
SPECIAL RULES APPLYING TO AGRICUL TURAL EXHIBITS.
Exhibits must be in place by 10 o'clock a. m. of the opening day of the Fair.
All products contesting for premiums must be grown by the exhibitor in the year 1915 and must be of Coffee county production.
Artistic arrangement will be taken into consideration by the awarding judges.
Awards will be made on Thursday after the opening day.
No article can compete for more than one premium unless otherwise stated in connection

DEPARTMENT B.--LIVE STOCK. Special Rules Applying to Live Stock Exhibits.
Entries will close at 10:00 o'clock, on the ipening day of the Fair.
Stalls and pens will be furnished by the pair Association without cost to the exhibitor.
Exhibitors must furnish feed at their own expense.
A competent man will be in charge of the department and will feed and water all animals regularly.
None of the animals will be permitted to run at large on the grounds.
All animals exhibited shall have been the bona fide property of the exhibitor for at least thirty days prior to the opening day of the fair.
Only one premium will be awarded where there is no competition, that is, a first and sec ond premium cannot be awarded for the same exhibit.

DEPARTMENT C,--POULTRY. Special Rules Applying to Poultry Exhibits.
1. Entries in this department will close at 10:00 o'clock, on the opening day of the Fair, and no exhibit will be accepted after this hour without special permission from the Fair Asso ciation.
2. All cash and special prizes offered in this department are open to the world unless otherwise restricted in connection with offer.
3. The judges will use the American Stand ard of perfection as a guide in making the awards.
4. All exhibitors will be required to pay the following fees: 25c per entry for single birds, and 50c per entry for pairs, trios, and pens. Fees must be paid when entries are made.
5. All transportation charges must be pre paid by the exhibitor.
6. Awards will be made by competent and disinterested judges chosen by the Fair Asso ciation.
7. The Fair Association will have a supply of bands on hand and birds received without bands will be banded by the manager of poul-

try department. 8. The Association will exercise due care
to prevent loss of or injury of birds, but will not assume responsibility for loss from any cause.
9. The Fair Association will furnish a com fortable and well lighted show room for the exhibition, also grain feed, and fresh water will be supplied.
10. The judging will be strictly private. Any exhibitor interfering with the judging will forfeit the claims he may have in the premium list.
11. Single birds, pairs, trios, and pens, can be entered for one prize only. Specimens for which no cash or special prizes are offered may receive such a ribbon awards as the judge may deem appropriate.
12. Birds for pen entries should be shipped in separate coops from single birds and plainly marked so as to avoid mistakes.
13. There must be two or more entries in each, and all classes, or first prize money will be withheld, but second money will be paid, also a first prize ribbon awarded.
14. Show coops will be furnished by the Fair Association.
15. Each specimen must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor, if entered to com pete for a premium.
16. No appeal from the judge's decision will be considered unless made in writing, stat ing the grounds for the appeal, and accompa nied by a deposit of $5.00, which will be for feited should the appeal not be sustained after a thorough investigation by the Association.
17. Birds, or fowls, with infectious dis ease will not be accepted if known to the Fair Association.

18. No tags, signs, or other advertising matter will be allowed in the show room until after the awards have been made.
19. Exhibitors are not required to accom pany their entries, but are invited to do so.
20. All entries must be made on blanks furnished by the Fair Association.
21. "Pen" entries must contain one male and four female birds.

RULES GOVERNING LADIES' EXHIBIT.
No. 1. All exhibitors competing for pre miums must be "bona fide" residents of Coffee county, and the work exhibited to be the work of the exhibitor.
No. 2. All exhibits entered for competition shall be subject to the control of the committee of the department in which they are exhibited and no article on exhibition may be removed until the close of the fair, except upon the written permission of the Executive Commit tee.
No. 3. All exhibits, except cut flowers, and cooking, must be entered by 5 o'clock Monday, November 8th.
No. 4. No article entered in a collection can compete for another premium.
No. 5. No premium will be awarded where the exhibit is unworthy, though there be no competition.
No. 6. If it is ascertained that any exhibi tor has made or caused to be made, false state ments in regard to article exhibited, or if any exhibitor shall attempt to interfere with the judges in the performance of their duties, she

shall be excluded from competition. No. 7. So far a spossible, the judges will
be selected from disinterested parties visiting the Fair, and will be selected by the committee having that special department in charge.
No. 8. No appeal from the judge's decis ion will be considered unless accompanied with proofs of partiality shown, and all. such com plaints must be written and presented to the chairman of the Ladies' Committee before the close of the Fair.
No. 9. Should any doubt arise in regard to any exhibit, or any other important matter, which the judges feel incompetent to decide, they shall report to the committee in charge of that department, who shall in turn report to the chairman f the Executive Committee for decision.
No. 10. No article that has been entered twice at former fairs can compete for premiums.
No. 11. No premium will be awarded when there is no competition. A blue ribbon will be given.

The ladies who are promoting this depart ment feel sure that the keynote of success has been sounded, for who does not want to claim health for their children? There will be a "Better Baby Contest" for this department, which will be opened to all children from 6 months to 3 years. To the most perfect baby, the most perfect physical make-up, there will be given a Silver Loving Cup, ana a souvenir will be awarded every Jbaby presented for ex amination. This contest is for every Coffee county citizen, and it is designed for stronger men and women.
