- This collection consists of letters from Frances Lee Higginson to his father pertaining to the destruction and burning of Darien, Georgia during the Civil War.
Francis Lee Higginson (1841-1925) enlisted in the 54th Massachusetts USCT. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on February 28, 1863. On January 30, 1864, he was appointed Captain of the 5th Massachusetts USCT. His official records show him as being absent May 5, 1865.
