- The collection consists of copies of Civil War letters and related data. Most of the letters were written to Anna L. Drake, who was born October 26, 1842. She did her part to keep the morale of the troops high by writing to them. The letters were found in the home of Jesse T. Drake of Anderson County, South Carolina.

Anna L. Drake married Thomas J. Leak on March 10, 1869. Jesse T. Drake married Essie E. Smith on February 9, 1893 and had thirteen children.
