WELCOME
to the 6th Annual Georgia Summit Conjerenee!
This year's Georgia Summit Conference offers users and support staff a choice of over 70 sessions covering Banner Student and Financial Aid, Facilities, PeopleSoft HRMS and Financials, Faculty Information System, and USG 123 (data warehouse). This dynamic event also includes two plenary sessions and exhibits ofproducts and services. Dr. Dennis Day, Dean ofStudent Services at Johnson County Community College in Kansas, will launch this year's conference with the keynote address. He will share his experience in creating service delivery systems for students.
This conference provides excellent opportunities for professional development. Team members from across the state will gather to network with colleagues, share information, and learn from each other's experiences and solutions to their daily operational challenges. The USG is fortunate to have such a diversity of experience and talent to"... build productive working relationships. "
Thank you in advance for your support and participation! This important conference would not be possible without those willing to fill the roles of presenters, facilitators, and moderators. Equally essential is participant feedback about the supported administrative systems. Your contributions facilitate the services we provide to students, faculty, and staff and ensure the continued success of the Georgia Summit Conference in helping to create a more educated Georgia.
I would also like to recognize our vendor sponsors for their contributions to this year's conference. Their support is appreciated especially in this time of economic uncertainty. I extend a special thanks to our general conference sponsors SCT and PeopleSoft.
I look forward to seeing all of you build productive working relationships with each other at Georgia Summit 2003 !
Sincerely,

Opening Session
1:00 PM Oglethorpe DIE
Dr. Dan Papp
Senior Vice Chancellor, Academics and Fiscal Affairs Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
Learning Without Limits: The Big Picture
In Leaming Without Limits, Dr. Dan Papp will provide a big picture view of the role information and instructional technologies plays in helping create a more educated Georgia. He will present an overview of planning, major University System enterprise applications, and how these applications are being developed to collectively produce an integrated learning environment. Dr. Papp will also discuss how an integrated learning environment facilitates the Board of Regents (BOR) strategic goals, particularly as they support the teaching and learning processes that enable a more educated Georgia.
Keynote Address
1:30 PM Oglethorpe DIE
Dr. Dennis Day
Johnson County Community College
Adjusting to Rapid Changes
As we talk of change at work and our private lives we are always trying to meet expectations set by someone else or ourselves. Those around us, at home or in the workplace, constantly present challenges to us that we attempt to accomplish. The greatest challenge in this continuous change environment is meeting expectations because we try to meet them all. A seemingly impossible task throws us out of balance and we lose our way.
At the Georgia Summit Conference much will be discussed about adjusting to rapid changes, or finding ways to provide the best service to students, or how new improved technology will affect what you do on a daily basis. All of these concepts are a part of our "world" whether it is in the macro sense, global, or in the micro sense, personal. When portions of our world are subtly or overtly changed then what happens to our plans of action for the day, the week, the year, or for the rest of our lives?
Dr. Dennis Day, Dean of Student Services at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kansas, has provided exceptional campus services to JCCC for 18 years, and he has worked in higher education for 23 years. He has created service delivery systems for students that are designed to maximize the method of delivery, provide information directly to students, and utilize the latest in technology. He has provided leadership for a new student development model, implementation of Web-based products, and construction of the Student Center and gym expansion. Today, more than 18,000 credit students and an equal number of continuingeducation students enroll at JCCC each semester. Full-time faculty and staff number approximately 875, with another 1,800 people working part-time.

I. Purpose/Objective: Kronos is currently marketing a time management product called Workforce Central Suite. This product is a frontend to the PeopleSoft HR/Payroll System.(The objective of the session will be to introduce and demonstrate the product, which allows for the entry of payroll and leave information by employees through automated time clocks and via the Web, the review and approval of this information by supervisors, and the transmission of the collected information directly to the PeopleSoft master payroll file. II. Discussion Points: A. The different modules of Workforce Central Suites. Workforce Timekeeper; Workforce Accruals; Workforce Professional B. The benefits of utilizing Workforce Central Suites. III. Summary
SACS Requirements: Implications of Revisions
2:30 PM Walsh Michael Moore, Georgia State University

SACS' accreditation requirements and process have a significant influence on the functions of institutional research, planning and assessment and with the current revision, and information management. Revised Core Requirements and Comprehensive Standards replace the current Criteria for Accreditation. The number is significantly reduced. The elaborate and intensive faculty committee process that produced the voluminous selfstudy is replaced with Compliance Certification and a succinct Quality Enhancement Plan. A SACS off-site review team validates an institution's compliance certification. The format of supporting documentation will change to support an off-site review; consequently SACS documentation rooms filled with file drawers will cease to exist. Institutions which participated in the prototype test and many of those preparing for accreditation under the new procedures are using web-based systems to both collect information and then to demonstrate compliance.

An Auditor's Perspective
2:30 PM Lamar C Ben Riden, Kristina Turner, Georgia Department of Audits
This session is a question and answer session held with personnel from the Georgia Department of Audits. Issues to be discussed include how to determine surplus, reconciliation from individual modules to the General Ledger, and steps to take to prepare for the audit.
The Financials Team: Who We Are, \Vhat We Do
2:30 PM Lamar A/B Paige Born, Denise Fulton, Sharon Logan, Board of Regents
Designed for all financial users, this session provides an overview of the team structure from the program/sponsors team at the University System Office to the support staff at OIIT with a look at behind-the-scenes activity, including the release process and interaction with the vendor.

The focus of this presentation is how the Georgia Records Act, Georgia Open Records Act, FERPA, Freedom of Information Act, and the Patriot Act affect the design and use of global information systems such as data warehouses or data repositories.
