Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District
Annual Report FY 2013
The supervisors of the Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District met a total of 12 times in regular session during the fiscal year. Rick Crawford served as Chairman, Jeanie Hill served as Vice-Chairman, and Gene Hair served as Treasurer. The District held their Annual Meeting on March 23, 2013 at the Blanchard-Eubanks Center in Appling Georgia. A wild game supper was prepared by the Supervisors and Commission Regional Staff. Approximately 35 people attended the supper. Cread Brown was the main speaker for the program. The District reviewed and ratified 283 erosion and sedimentation and pollution control plans reviewed by cooperating agencies as well as through the MOA with Columbia County. The District helped sponsor the Greenbrier High School Envirothon Team. The District received an outreach grant from GACDS to implement conservation program outreach. They used a portion of this grant to fund the Annual Wild Game Supper. The District donated soil stewardship items for educational outreach to Steed Farm. The District welcomed Michael Rorick as a new supervisor. Rick Crawford received his 20 year service pin. The District sponsored students to attend the Natural Resource Conservation Workshop. The District sponsored a Level II E&S training in Augusta.
