Dear Taxpayer:
Welcome to the Tax Guide For Georgia Citizens. Inside you will find a useful summary of the various taxes that are collected in Georgia. This is the seventeenth edition of the Tax Guide, and it has traditionally proven especially useful for residents who are new to our state, as well as retirees who are considering moving here.
Whether you are a new resident or have lived in the Peach State for some time, the mission of the Georgia Department of Revenue applies equally to all: "To administer Georgia s tax taws in a manner that promotes confidence in our competence, fairness, and integrity."
In addition to the Tax Guide, another excellent source of information about the DOR is our Worldwide Website (www2.state.ga.us/departments/dor). It contains useful information and updates concerning the different taxes that we administer, and offers a lengthy list of tax forms that can be "downloaded" at the touch of a button. The Department also has eleven Regional Offices throughout the state which are listed on pages 40 and 41. All of them will be happy to expedite your request for assistance either in person or over the telephone.
Finally, whatever your request for assistance may be, we hope that your interaction with the Department of Revenue is a pleasant one. For our primary purpose in serving Georgia's citizens is to help you --- our "customer."
